The Great Bluebeam Pumpkin

October 28, 2010

Forget Charlie Brown’s Great Pumpkin – this is the coolest Jack-O-Lantern I’ve ever seen:

This awesome painted and carved pumpkin was created by a Bluebeam user, Bob. He made it for his company’s pumpkin carving contest to benefit the United Way. He surprised us with this Halloween trick and treat by sharing a photo of it on Bluebeam’s Facebook page.

I don’t know about you, but Bob puts my pumpkin carving skills to shame.

Happy Halloween, and remember to keep on PDFin’!

Want to learn about construction technology for free?

October 20, 2010

Let’s face it – few things are free in southern California (or anywhere for that matter). But, on Wednesday, November 3rd, construction industry professionals in southern California will have a special opportunity to meet and network with industry technology vendors, and even attend educational sessions. What a deal!

The event is the 2010 Associated General Contractors (AGC) Southern California Construction Technology Exposition. It’s hosted by AGC’s Technology Trends in Construction Committee and taking place Wednesday, November 3rd from 12pm to 7:30pm at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar, California. Bluebeam will be on hand in booth #13. We’ll be demonstrating how our PDF creation, markup and editing solutions enable project teams to go paperless and achieve an 85% reduction in paper usage and 60% increase in productivity.

The event is free, but AGC is asking attendees to register in advance. So sign up, head to Del Mar and stop by to say hello to Bluebeam. And remember, to keep on PDFin’!

Help us show the world that going paperless is green

October 5, 2010

You know that going paperless is an important part of green building projects, but what about your engineering consultant, Craig, or your specifier, Pamela, or your flooring sub, Mike? Are they doing everything they can to reduce their paper usage?

Well, now is your chance to help show the AEC community that going paperless with Bluebeam PDF Revu should be a part of green building projects. Environmental Design + Construction (ED+C) Magazine is hosting its annual Readers’ Choice Awards. This contest recognizes the “crème de la crème” of green building products and materials.

Our paper-fighting PDF editor Bluebeam PDF Revu (which has been proven to reduce paper usage by up to 80%) is nominated in the software category. Please go to ED+Cs’ Readers’ Choice Award website and vote for Bluebeam to win.

Thanks, and remember to keep on PDFin’!

A Bluebeam Trick for Finding PDFs Faster

October 4, 2010

What’s the fastest way to get to project file folders containing all the PDFs you need to review and redline? Well, if you are already viewing a PDF in Revu, here’s a speedy trick.

Right-click on the document tab of the open PDF and select Copy Path.

Go to the File Access Tab (in the left dock) and choose the Explorer sub-tab.

Right-click in the address bar and paste the copied path.

Now, just delete the file name from the copied path, so that the path ends with the file folder location. Then hit Enter.

And now here you are. Your related project PDFs are now just a click away. And you didn’t even have to leave Revu to find them!

What’s your favorite Bluebeam trick? Let me know. And remember, to keep on PDFin’!
