Favorite Feature Friday – Compare Documents

It’s Friday, which means it’s time to talk about yet another Bluebeamer-picked favorite feature. For those who missed last week’s post, every Friday I’m blogging about one of the features that my coworkers dressed up as a few weeks ago.

Today’s favorite feature – the Compare Documents tool – as illustrated by Kristine and Michelle’s creative costume:

See the similarities…I mean differences?

Bluebeam’s Compare Documents (Document/Compare Documents) feature allows you to take two versions of the same PDF file and automatically compare the two. Revu makes a new copy of Revision B and places cloud annotations over all the differences so you can instantly see what has changed. What’s more, Revu opens this new “Difference” PDF side by side with the original PDF and syncs the views, not only giving you a side by side comparison of what used to be and what is now, but allowing both files to pan and zoom in unison.

If you think that’s cool – try Compare Documents in batch mode! Go to File/Batch Processing/Compare Documents to select PDF drawing sets to compare. It’s a great way to quickly ensure you are working with current information every time new drawings have been issued on a project. You can learn more about the Document Comparison tool on this page, which includes a PDF and video tutorial on the feature.

What do you think of Bluebeam’s Compare Documents tool? Let me know. And remember to keep on PDFin’!
