In case you didn’t hear, last week we had our annual Bluebeam eXtreme Conference. This year’s event took place in Hollywood, CA, and included two fabulously fun-filled days of learning, and some amazing conversations with our customers. We also revealed the new features of Revu 12.5 that had everybody buzzing. One of the most popular topics of discussion just happens to be my new favorite features, the Notifications and Alerts features within Studio. The reason I love these so much is because they really help you stay updated on any changes made by other attendees to Studio Sessions and Projects, which is especially helpful when you’re working in the field. Let’s take a closer look at how they work.
Think of notifications as a helpful friend who’s making sure everyone is in the loop. Once notifications are enabled, you’ll start receiving emails with updates on things like:
- Session and Project activity
- Markup Alerts
- Session Updates
- Project Updates
Depending on what you’ve selected in the Studio Notification Preferences, you can receive daily summaries, or more regular updates. You can also choose which Sessions and Projects you’d like to receive notifications for.
Pretty awesome, huh?
This really cool enhancement for Studio Sessions lets you send real-time alerts to other session attendees. Once the Session host has enabled Markup Alerts, the recipients will see the Notifications tab flashing at the bottom of the Bluebeam Studio panel. When they click on an alert, they’re taken straight to the markup within the file. After they’ve clicked on it, it will be greyed out, so you know they saw it and looked at it. Now if your Project Engineer says he has no idea what you’re talking about, you’ve got proof that he does. CYA, baby!
Another great thing about this feature is that if you miss a Markup Alert notification email for some reason, you’ll see an indicator next to any Sessions with pending alerts the next time you log in.

Until next time,
We’re excited to announce the release of Revu 12.5 and Revu iPad 2.8! Both are filled with some exciting new features we think you’ll really like. Revu 12.5 includes several new Bluebeam Studio features, including Seamless Offline for Sessions so you can continue viewing and working on Session documents, even when working offline. New Markup Alerts notify individual Session attendees of Markups in need of their attention, and Push Email Notifications help keep you in the know with timely email activity reports. Revu iPad 2.8 includes improved support for Studio Session hyperlinks in Markup Alert notification emails, as well as some enhancements to resolve a few known issues.
We’re also thrilled to introduce you to Studio Enterprise (formerly Studio Server), the server-based alternative to Bluebeam Studio. With Studio Enterprise, sessions that would normally be hosted in the cloud can be hosted on a local server, giving administrators the ability to easily control security and access. For a full rundown of all the features you’ll find in Studio Enterprise, Revu 12.5 and iPad 2.8, visit our website for the release notes.
Good news, Revu 12.1 is now available! This latest release includes new measurement features, as well as improvements to SharePoint integration and Studio Projects. Revu CAD and eXtreme users will also find updated support for the AutoCAD and Revit 2015 plug-ins, and for Sketchup Pro 2014. Read the release notes for a full list of updates.
That’s right, the wait is finally over! Revu 12 is here, and it’s loaded with new features to better enable digital collaboration and help you easily connect the office to the field. Learn more here.
It’s almost Revu 12 launch time! We’ve been travelling along the exciting “Road to Revu 12” showing users how the new features in the latest version of Revu make it easier than ever to get documents field-ready. We know you can’t all join us on the road, so we’re giving you several additional opportunities this week to get a sneak peek of Revu 12 in action before it’s released to the public. Join one of our three hour-long pre-release webinars for a great opportunity to get ahead and ask questions in a live Q&A session with Bluebeam’s Account Services team. Don’t worry, each webinar covers the same content, so choose the one most convenient for you:
This week our “Road to Revu 12” team is in Chicago, IL, where we’re having a great time visiting with customers and exploring the Windy City, despite the cold temps. So far we’ve had a lot of fun checking out some of Chicago’s famous landmarks, like the Cloud Gate (a.k.a. “The Bean”) sculpture in Millennium Park, and hanging out with customers such as Goettsch Partners, who shared how they are using Revu to design the public spaces for the renovation of one of the city’s most historic buildings.
Yesterday’s adventures concluded with a fun evening at the Ivy Room, where we hosted a complimentary Revu 12 launch party. Attendees were treated to a sneak preview of some of the new features to come, and judging from their responses, we know you’re going to love them too!
Speaking of new features, if you can’t wait to find out what’s in store when Revu 12 launches later this month, you can check out our video recap of last week’s trip to Washington, D.C., where customers who got a first look at Revu 12 shared a mutual love of one of the new features. You’ll also see highlights from our customer visits, including Forrester Construction at the CoreSite Data Center project and Shalom Baranes Associates architects, who are using Revu to keep their punch process running smoothly on the CityCenter project in the heart of D.C.
Be sure to keep visiting www.Revu12.com for additional video updates every week—including a video recap of this trip to Chicago!
Until next time,
Revu 12 is on its way, and we’re really excited about it here at Bluebeam! There’s going to be so many enhancements that will help our customers become more field-ready, work smarter and above all, do what they do better. And, although I can’t share the details of these new features just yet, I just had to share some of the early feedback* we’ve been getting from our Beta Testers, who are loving them! Here’s what some of them had to say:
“Bluebeam Revu is simply the best PDF markup and editing tool for AEC professionals. Revu 12 includes powerful ___ enhancements, a new user-friendly ___ feature, and improved ___ functions.
If you’re serious about improving productivity, Bluebeam Revu needs to be in your electronic toolbox.”
– Larry Faria, CH2M HILL
I know, you really want to know what these awesome new features are. Sorry we can’t share them yet, but I promise that we’ll let you know soon, so stay tuned! For those of you who can’t wait to find out what everyone’s talking about, be sure to sign up for one of our Road to Revu 12 events which will give attendees an exclusive sneak peek of all Revu 12 features, or our pre-release webinar.”
Until next time,
*Edited to remove mentions of specific features. It’s still a secret…for now. 🙂
