Men kan h\u00e5l \u00e4ven motverka klimatf\u00f6r\u00e4ndringarna? Extrema \u00f6versv\u00e4mningar och andra v\u00e4derh\u00e4ndelser med koppling till klimatf\u00f6r\u00e4ndringarna blir allt vanligare och orsakar v\u00e5r planet allvarliga skador. H\u00e5l i det ofta anv\u00e4nda byggmaterialet betong kan faktiskt f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttra den milj\u00f6m\u00e4ssiga h\u00e5llbarheten i st\u00e4der \u00f6ver hela v\u00e4rlden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Varf\u00f6r betong?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>M\u00e5nga av f\u00f6rdelarna med betong som byggmaterial beror p\u00e5 att det \u00e4r s\u00e5 okomplicerat. Betong \u00e4r helt enkelt en blandning av vatten, sand, grus och cementpulver. Det \u00e4r dessutom billigt, enkelt att anv\u00e4nda och kan formas n\u00e4stan hur som helst. Vid extrem nederb\u00f6rd kan betong f\u00f6rv\u00e4rra problemet. Men den goda nyheten \u00e4r att ny teknik f\u00f6r\u00e4ndrar det h\u00e4r. Experter har uppt\u00e4ckt att det \u00e4r m\u00f6jligt att tillverka en ny typ av por\u00f6s betong genom att ta bort sanden fr\u00e5n blandningen men beh\u00e5lla de st\u00f6rre delarna av fyllmaterialet. Det g\u00f6r att vatten kan filtreras genom bel\u00e4ggningen och in i marken d\u00e4runder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">F\u00f6roreningskontroll<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Tekniken ger f\u00f6rdelar och minskar risken f\u00f6r \u00f6versv\u00e4mning. N\u00e4r traditionell betong anv\u00e4nds fl\u00f6dar regnvatten ut \u00f6ver ytan och absorberar f\u00f6roreningar som kommer fr\u00e5n fordon, s\u00e5som metaller fr\u00e5n bilbromsar, spilld olja eller bensin. Sj\u00e4lva bel\u00e4ggningen bidrar ocks\u00e5 till kolv\u00e4ten, som \u00e4r vanligt f\u00f6rekommande i de t\u00e4tningsmedel som anv\u00e4nds p\u00e5 ytan. Alla dessa f\u00f6roreningar hamnar ofta i en lokal vattensamling dit de f\u00f6rs med avrinningsvatten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.bluebeam.com\/se\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/09\/PorousConcrete-Inline1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Detta kan inneb\u00e4ra en katastrof, s\u00e4rskilt f\u00f6r \u00f6mt\u00e5liga kustn\u00e4ra ekosystem. Och i och med&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/npdes\/stormwater-rules-and-notices\">EPA:s sk\u00e4rpning av reglerna<\/a>&nbsp;f\u00f6r dagvattenavrinning s\u00e5 blir m\u00e5nga kommuner alltmer intresserade av l\u00e4ttbetong som m\u00f6jlig l\u00f6sning. EPA har nyligen b\u00f6rjat experimentera med l\u00e4ttbetong p\u00e5 en parkeringsplats vid sitt Edison Environmental Center i Edison, New Jersey. Parkeringsplatsen f\u00f6r 110 fordon slutf\u00f6rdes 2016 och best\u00e5r av en genomsl\u00e4pplig bel\u00e4ggning p\u00e5 28&nbsp;000&nbsp;kvadratmeter. Michael Borst, kemiingenj\u00f6r p\u00e5 EPA:s National Risk Management Research Laboratory, \u00f6vervakade projektet. Han specialiserar sig p\u00e5 forskning inom gr\u00f6n infrastruktur och p\u00e5 att hitta metoder f\u00f6r att hj\u00e4lpa kommuner att utveckla kostnadseffektiva strategier f\u00f6r att uppfylla milj\u00f6m\u00e5l. Borst sa att b\u00e5de han sj\u00e4lv och myndigheten f\u00f6rst var skeptiska till de p\u00e5st\u00e5dda f\u00f6rdelarna med l\u00e4ttbetong. Men efter experimentet med parkeringsplatsen vid Edison Centre och andra tester sa Borst: \u201dDet h\u00e4r fungerar.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">S\u00e5 h\u00e4r anv\u00e4nds det<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>EPA har \u00e4nnu inte tagit fram n\u00e5gon officiell b\u00e4sta praxis f\u00f6r n\u00e4r och hur kommuner b\u00f6r anv\u00e4nda l\u00e4ttbetong. Men Borst angav n\u00e5gra riktlinjer. \u201dDet \u00e4r b\u00e4ttre om du har jord som till\u00e5ter infiltrering\u201d, s\u00e4ger Borst. \u201dMan vill inte vara f\u00f6r n\u00e4ra grundvattenniv\u00e5n, d\u00e5 kan en ansamling av vatten bildas som inte sjunker undan. L\u00e4ttbetong brukar kosta ungef\u00e4r 25&nbsp;% mer \u00e4n traditionell betong, men de exakta skillnaderna i pris beror p\u00e5 den lokala leverant\u00f6ren och vilken typ av projekt det handlar om, s\u00e4ger Borst. Trots detta kan dessa initiala kostnader ofta tj\u00e4nas in under produktens livscykel. Precis som med alla andra tekniker s\u00e5 best\u00e4ms den slutliga nyttan med l\u00e4ttbetong av n\u00e4r och var den anv\u00e4nds.
