Jag kunde helt och h\u00e5llet g\u00e5 upp i byggprocessen. Det var fascinerande att se hur allting f\u00f6ll p\u00e5 plats.\u201d F\u00f6r Ileana Holguin, som \u00e4r projektchef p\u00e5 McCarthy, har denna fascination varit drivkraften bakom en karri\u00e4r i byggbranschen som str\u00e4cker sig \u00f6ver tv\u00e5 decennier, inklusive 19&nbsp;\u00e5r bara inom McCarthy Building Companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.bluebeam.com\/se\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/09\/strxur-IleanaHolguin-Inline2-400x533.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Ileana \u00e4r f\u00f6dd i Mexiko, och n\u00e4r hon kom till USA vid 17&nbsp;\u00e5rs \u00e5lder gick hon om high school bara f\u00f6r att bli b\u00e4ttre p\u00e5 engelska. Hon uppt\u00e4ckte att hon \u00e4lskade att skissa och rita, och utan att ha n\u00e5gon i familjen eller n\u00e5gon hon k\u00e4nde som kunde hj\u00e4lpa henne att v\u00e4lja vidareutbildning gick hon p\u00e5 community college innan hon b\u00f6rjade p\u00e5 Cal Poly San Louis Obispo i hopp om att bli arkitekt. \u201dJag \u00e4r ambiti\u00f6s. Men jag hade ingen aning om att kursen p\u00e5 Cal Poly San Louis Obispo egentligen inte handlade om arkitektur utan om byggteknik! Det visade sig dock att jag trivdes j\u00e4ttebra p\u00e5 kursen. Jag best\u00e4mde mig ocks\u00e5 f\u00f6r att l\u00e4sa byggledning som tillvals\u00e4mne f\u00f6r att skaffa mig \u00e4nnu b\u00e4ttre m\u00f6jligheter\u201d, f\u00f6rklarar Holguin. Genom b\u00e5de huvud- och tillvals\u00e4mnet utvecklade hon ett intresse f\u00f6r att jobba ute p\u00e5 f\u00e4ltet. Hon har \u00e4nda sedan dess varit ett lysande exempel p\u00e5 skicklighet och inspiration inom byggande. Som projektchef och talesman f\u00f6r McCarthy Partnership for Women \u2013 en resursgrupp f\u00f6r anst\u00e4llda i s\u00f6dra Kalifornien \u2013 har Ileana fullt upp. Det \u00e4r precis som hon vill ha det.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bluebeams blogg: Ber\u00e4tta om n\u00e4r du b\u00f6rjade p\u00e5 McCarthy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Holguin: Jag b\u00f6rjade som projektingenj\u00f6r f\u00f6r 19&nbsp;\u00e5r sedan. D\u00e5 hade jag hand om pappersarbetet f\u00f6r allt som h\u00e4nde ute p\u00e5 f\u00e4ltet, till exempel informationsf\u00f6rfr\u00e5gningar, underlag och dagsloggar. Det var inte f\u00f6rr\u00e4n jag blev befordrad till projektledarassistent som jag fick arbetsledaransvar. D\u00e5 var det inte l\u00e4ngre bara sj\u00e4lva jobbet som skulle utf\u00f6ras, utan det handlade ocks\u00e5 om att leda m\u00e4nniskor med olika personligheter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bluebeams blogg: Hur tog du dig fram till rollen som projektchef?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Holguin: Jag var projektledare i ungef\u00e4r fem \u00e5r. Sedan f\u00f6reslog min chef, som jag betraktar som en mentor, att jag skulle komma in p\u00e5 kontoret och jobba med f\u00f6rkonstruktion i ett par \u00e5r. Inom f\u00f6rkonstruktion fick jag l\u00e4ra mig mer om den andra sidan av verksamheten, som att skriva anbud, g\u00f6ra ber\u00e4kningar, f\u00f6rhandla avtal med byggherrar och aff\u00e4rsutveckling. Det har gjort mig till en b\u00e4ttre projektchef. Som projektchef ansvarar jag f\u00f6r b\u00e5de f\u00f6rkonstruktion och konstruktion p\u00e5 olika projekt. Det kan vara tv\u00e5 eller tre projekt \u00e5t g\u00e5ngen. Att anv\u00e4nda digitala verktyg \u00e4r avg\u00f6rande f\u00f6r produktiviteten i v\u00e5r verksamhet. Till exempel \u00e4r m\u00e5nga dokument som jag jobbar med i PDF-format, och har tagits fram och sammanst\u00e4llts i <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bluebeam.com\/se\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bluebeam<\/a>. Genom att kunna dela Bluebeam-ber\u00e4kningar med teamet och vara flexibla b\u00e5de p\u00e5 kontoret och p\u00e5 f\u00e4ltet f\u00e5r vi b\u00e5de h\u00f6gre produktivitet och kan leverera b\u00e4ttre resultat till medarbetare och kunder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>Personalledning st\u00e5r nog f\u00f6r ungef\u00e4r 60\u201370% av v\u00e5rt dagliga arbete. Inte bara n\u00e4r det g\u00e4ller nyrekrytering till branschen och v\u00e5rt f\u00f6retag, utan ocks\u00e5 f\u00f6r att se till att vi har en milj\u00f6 utan hinder, d\u00e4r alla ges m\u00f6jlighet att prestera sitt b\u00e4sta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bluebeams blogg: Hur \u00e4r McCarthy Partnership for Women som grupp uppbyggd?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Holguin: Det \u00e4r en grupp p\u00e5 nationell niv\u00e5 som st\u00f6ds av ledningen och drivs av de anst\u00e4llda. I var och en av v\u00e5ra regioner finns talespersoner som jag, som ansvarar f\u00f6r att kommunicera gruppens m\u00e5l till regionen. Dessutom f\u00f6rbereder och samordnar vi n\u00e4tverksevenemang, utbildning och andra program f\u00f6r b\u00e5de kvinnor och m\u00e4n i regionen, d\u00e4r alla ges m\u00f6jlighet att lyckas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bluebeams blogg: Vilka typer av upps\u00f6kande verksamhet sysslar gruppen med?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Holguin: F\u00f6rra \u00e5ret var ett bra \u00e5r vad g\u00e4ller upps\u00f6kande verksamhet. I s\u00f6dra Kalifornien startade vi \u201dConstruction 101\u201d, en kurs d\u00e4r tjejer i high school kunde komma till oss en l\u00f6rdag och l\u00e4ra sig mer om m\u00f6jligheterna inom byggbranschen. De gick fr\u00e5n station till station och deltog i praktiska utbildningsaktiviteter. Till exempel fick de h\u00e4r unga kvinnorna l\u00e4ra sig hur man p\u00e5 ett s\u00e4kert s\u00e4tt anv\u00e4nder elverktyg \u2013 och d\u00e5 pratar jag inte om en skruvdragare, utan om att kapa armeringsj\u00e4rn med vinkelslip. Jag kan knappt beskriva hur givande det var att f\u00e5 visa dem att de klarar att g\u00f6ra n\u00e5gonting annorlunda, n\u00e5got som g\u00e5r utanf\u00f6r normen och inte betraktas som traditionellt kvinnligt. De gick d\u00e4rifr\u00e5n med k\u00e4nslan av att kunna \u00e5stadkomma vad de \u00e4n ville i framtiden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>M\u00e5ngfald \u2013 och d\u00e5 inte bara n\u00e4r det g\u00e4ller k\u00f6n utan ocks\u00e5 tankar, bakgrunder och erfarenhet \u2013 bidrar med s\u00e5 mycket v\u00e4rde f\u00f6r ett f\u00f6retag.<\/p><cite>Ileana Holguin, projektchef p\u00e5 McCarthy<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bluebeams blogg: P\u00e5 vilka fler s\u00e4tt bidrar programmet till b\u00e4ttre relationer?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Holguin: Vi arbetar f\u00f6r att ge kvinnor m\u00f6jlighet att tr\u00e4ffas och n\u00e4tverka med f\u00f6retagsledningen regelbundet, ha enskilda samtal och l\u00e4ra k\u00e4nna varandra b\u00e4ttre. N\u00e4r ledningen deltar i evenemang blir kvinnorna ocks\u00e5 motiverade att komma dit och delta. Hur har de hj\u00e4lpt till med att skapa lika villkor?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Holguin: Jag tycker att mentorer \u00e4r oerh\u00f6rt viktiga. Min inofficiella mentor var en annan kvinnlig projektingenj\u00f6r som b\u00f6rjade p\u00e5 McCarthy ungef\u00e4r samtidigt som jag. Jag k\u00e4nde mig bekv\u00e4m med att st\u00e4lla fr\u00e5gor eftersom hon var en person jag kunde relatera till \u2013 en annan kvinna i byggbranschen. Vi kunde ber\u00e4tta olika id\u00e9er f\u00f6r varandra och f\u00e5 r\u00e5d om hur vi skulle hantera vissa situationer. \u00c4ven om hon inte formellt var en mentor hj\u00e4lpte hon mig att v\u00e4xa i branschen och fatta b\u00e4ttre beslut. Just nu har jag en formell mentor som ger mig r\u00e5d om saker som g\u00e4ller arbetet. Det g\u00e5r inte att beskriva hur v\u00e4rdefullt det har varit att ha hans st\u00f6d i min karri\u00e4r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bluebeams blogg: S\u00e5 h\u00e4r efter 20&nbsp;\u00e5r, vilka tycker du \u00e4r de st\u00f6rsta skillnaderna i branschen j\u00e4mf\u00f6rt med n\u00e4r du b\u00f6rjade?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Holguin: Kvinnliga projektingenj\u00f6rer kommer till McCarthy direkt fr\u00e5n college och \u00e4r mer villiga \u00e4n n\u00e5gonsin att s\u00e4ga vad de tycker. Det gl\u00e4der mig verkligen. Det \u00e4r s\u00e5 uppfriskande att se att de v\u00e5gar \u00f6ppna munnen och st\u00e5 p\u00e5 egna ben.
