Gl\u00f6m ek, l\u00f6nn och k\u00f6rsb\u00e4r \u2013 det h\u00e4r ser ut som en plastskiva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lars har hanterat tr\u00e4et f\u00f6r att f\u00e5 fram just den effekten. Ligninet i tr\u00e4et har avl\u00e4gsnats och ersatts med en optiskt kompatibel polymer. P\u00e5 s\u00e5 s\u00e4tt har man f\u00e5tt en komposit som skulle kunna f\u00e5 rumsljuset inomhus att f\u00f6rvandlas till n\u00e5got som b\u00e4ttre liknar naturligt ljus. Dessutom kan materialet ha en b\u00e4rande funktion och s\u00e4nka kostnaderna f\u00f6r uppv\u00e4rmning och kylning, s\u00e5 att byggnaden blir mer energieffektiv.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Det \u00e4r fantastiskt vad nanotekniken numera kan g\u00f6ra f\u00f6r arkitektur, teknik och konstruktion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Framst\u00e4llning av milj\u00f6v\u00e4nliga material <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Lars Berglunds intresse f\u00f6r polymerer och plaster v\u00e4cktes redan n\u00e4r han gick sin grundutbildning. D\u00e5 l\u00e4ste han en inspirerande kurs som ledde honom in p\u00e5 en karri\u00e4r d\u00e4r han fr\u00e5n b\u00f6rjan arbetade med kolfiberkompositer i luftfartsindustrin. Efter att ha forskat i det \u00e4mnet i \u00f6ver tio \u00e5r b\u00f6rjade han p\u00e5 Kungliga Tekniska H\u00f6gskolan (KTH), d\u00e4r han b\u00f6rjade \u00e4gna sig \u00e5t tr\u00e4kompositer. Idag ansvarar Lars ocks\u00e5 f\u00f6r projektet WoodNano Tech, som startades 2017 och finansieras av EU-kommissionen till och med 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vad \u00e4r det d\u00e5 som g\u00f6r tr\u00e4 till en s\u00e5 bra mall f\u00f6r nanotekniken? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dOm vi tittar p\u00e5 hur betong tillverkas, eller p\u00e5 alla plastmaterial som dominerar p\u00e5 marknaden, s\u00e5 g\u00e5r det \u00e5t mycket energi bara till att framst\u00e4lla sj\u00e4lva materialen\u201d, s\u00e4ger Lars. \u201dMen i det h\u00e4r fallet \u00e4r det en biologisk organism som g\u00f6r jobbet \u00e5t oss. Inte nog med att det har g\u00e5tt \u00e5t noll energi f\u00f6r att framst\u00e4lla materialet \u2013 det lagras ocks\u00e5 koldioxid fr\u00e5n luften i tr\u00e4dets v\u00e4vnad. Det \u00e4r en fantastisk utg\u00e5ngspunkt. Vi har det h\u00e4r oerh\u00f6rt funktionella materialet att bygga med, som samtidigt kommer fr\u00e5n f\u00f6rnybara k\u00e4llor. Det har dessutom l\u00e5g f\u00f6rkroppsligad energi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.bluebeam.com\/se\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/12\/Transparent-Wood_Inline-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-79234\" width=\"750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.bluebeam.com\/se\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/12\/Transparent-Wood_Inline-1-1.jpg 750w, https:\/\/blog.bluebeam.com\/se\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/12\/Transparent-Wood_Inline-1-1-145x200.jpg 145w, https:\/\/blog.bluebeam.com\/se\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/12\/Transparent-Wood_Inline-1-1-434x600.jpg 434w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Lars till\u00e4gger att det visserligen \u201d\u00e4r stor hype kring nanotekniken idag\u201d, men att de flesta till\u00e4mpningar handlar om elektronik eller fotonik. Forskarna \u00e4gnar sig vanligtvis \u00e5t en \u201dnedifr\u00e5n-och-upp-syntes\u201d, d\u00e4r de utg\u00e5r fr\u00e5n atomerna och sedan anpassar det material som de framst\u00e4ller. Och i s\u00e5dana till\u00e4mpningar skulle en struktur i frim\u00e4rksstorlek betraktas som stor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Men Lars och hans team arbetar med ett material som redan \u00e4r nanostrukturerat och por\u00f6st. \u201dDet betyder att vi kan anv\u00e4nda det som substrat f\u00f6r vidare funktionalitet\u201d, s\u00e4ger han. Kompositen kan infiltreras med andra funktionella material, och det kan g\u00f6ras i stor skala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dDet \u00e4r m\u00f6jligt att vi i framtiden kommer att ha enorma strukturer som \u00e4nd\u00e5 bygger p\u00e5 nanoteknik, och som kan bearbetas delvis genom etablerade industriella metoder\u201d, s\u00e4ger Lars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Det g\u00e5r upp ett ljus <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Belysning har traditionellt handlat om att man anv\u00e4nder en ljusk\u00e4lla och n\u00e5gon form av diffuser som sprider och mjukar upp ljuset. Men ljuset blir inte lika starkt i hela rummet. Tr\u00e4 har en intern struktur som bidrar till en viss spridning, och den har forskningsteamet hittat ett s\u00e4tt att f\u00e5nga upp och utnyttja. Resultatet blir ett rum som \u00e4r mer enhetligt och bekv\u00e4mt upplyst, utan n\u00e5gra omr\u00e5den d\u00e4r ljuset antingen \u00e4r f\u00f6r starkt eller f\u00f6r svagt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lars Berglunds arbete p\u00e5 det h\u00e4r omr\u00e5det \u00e4r inriktat p\u00e5 att integrera kvantpunkter i tr\u00e4ets naturliga infrastruktur. Punkterna \u00e4r halvledaratomer som blir fluorescerande n\u00e4r de exponeras f\u00f6r UV-ljus. Lars anv\u00e4nder en analogi f\u00f6r att f\u00f6rklara konceptet i lekmannatermer: Samsung anv\u00e4nder kvantpunkter i sina tv-apparater f\u00f6r att f\u00e5 dem att lysa starkare. Eftersom Lars och hans team b\u00e4ddar in lysdioder i sin tr\u00e4komposit kan en hel v\u00e4gg eller ett helt tak bli en k\u00e4lla till ett j\u00e4mnt spritt \u2013 och mer energisn\u00e5lt \u2013 ljus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dVi har ett tr\u00e4substrat. Vi har tagit bort ligninet. Vi tills\u00e4tter en polymer, och sedan sprids de h\u00e4r kvantpunkterna ut i den polymeriska v\u00e4tskan\u201d, s\u00e4ger Lars. \u201dS\u00e5 blir de ocks\u00e5 en del av kompositens \u00f6vergripande struktur.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">En struktur med \u00e4nnu fler funktioner <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Kompositen med inb\u00e4ddade lysdioder kan ocks\u00e5 vara b\u00e4rande. \u201dN\u00e4r vi nu har det h\u00e4r tr\u00e4skelettet s\u00e5 klarar v\u00e5r ljusk\u00e4lla \u00e4ven belastning\u201d, s\u00e4ger Lars. \u201dMan skulle kunna anv\u00e4nda den i taket \u2013 den skulle kunna bli en del av den b\u00e4rande strukturen.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lars och hans team har dessutom experimenterat med att integrera andra material \u00e4n polymerer: fasf\u00f6r\u00e4ndringsmaterial som kan omvandla tr\u00e4kompositen till en energilagringsenhet. Det h\u00e4r \u00e4r en funktion som har v\u00e4ckt s\u00e4rskilt stort intresse hos arkitekter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lars f\u00f6rklarar:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dL\u00e5t s\u00e4ga att vi har en genomskinlig panel i huset. Inuti tr\u00e4materialet finns partiklar: polymeren, tr\u00e4substratet och de h\u00e4r partiklarna av fasf\u00f6r\u00e4ndringsmaterial. N\u00e4r solen lyser igenom det halvt genomskinliga tr\u00e4et v\u00e4rms det upp. D\u00e5 sm\u00e4lter de h\u00e4r partiklarna, och en del av den energi som annars skulle ha kommit in i huset g\u00e5r \u00e5t till att sm\u00e4lta fasf\u00f6r\u00e4ndringspartiklarna. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dS\u00e5 den f\u00f6rsta f\u00f6rdelen \u00e4r att rummet inte blir s\u00e5 varmt som det annars skulle ha blivit. N\u00e4r solen sedan g\u00e5r ner s\u00e5 b\u00f6rjar de sm\u00e4lta fasf\u00f6r\u00e4ndringspartiklarna att kristalliseras igen, och d\u00e5 avger de v\u00e4rme. Vi bevarar en del av solenergin och anv\u00e4nder den sedan p\u00e5 kv\u00e4llen n\u00e4r det b\u00f6rjar bli svalare.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.bluebeam.com\/se\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/12\/Transparent-Wood_Inline2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-79235\" width=\"750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.bluebeam.com\/se\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/12\/Transparent-Wood_Inline2.jpg 750w, https:\/\/blog.bluebeam.com\/se\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/12\/Transparent-Wood_Inline2-281x200.jpg 281w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>All den h\u00e4r funktionaliteten fr\u00e5n n\u00e5gonting som vid f\u00f6rsta anblicken ser ut som en helt vanlig bit halvt genomskinlig plast. Att den ser ut just s\u00e5 har ocks\u00e5 uppm\u00e4rksammats av teamet, med tanke p\u00e5 hur viktig estetiken \u00e4r f\u00f6r arkitekterna. Som en p\u00e5minnelse om att grundmaterialet \u00e4r tr\u00e4, har man givit kompositen en ytstruktur som liknar tr\u00e4ets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ett f\u00f6nster mot smartare innovationer <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Lars Berglund och hans team experimenterar ocks\u00e5 med elektrokromiska smarta f\u00f6nster. \u00c4ven f\u00f6r dessa utnyttjas polymerer, som stryks p\u00e5 som en tunn bel\u00e4ggning. Med hj\u00e4lp av en str\u00f6mbrytare kan man sedan styra hur mycket ljus utifr\u00e5n som kommer in i ett rum, och till och med ljusets f\u00e4rg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>F\u00f6rdelen framf\u00f6r ett draperi eller en rullgardin \u00e4r att man kan begr\u00e4nsa bl\u00e4ndande ljus utifr\u00e5n utan att blockera utsikten, och att man kan h\u00f6ja och s\u00e4nka ljusstyrkan gradvis. Det \u00e4r, som Lars Berglund uttrycker det, \u201dett elegantare s\u00e4tt\u201d att reglera ljusniv\u00e5erna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hittills har arbetet erk\u00e4nts genom \u201dett par patent, och ett f\u00f6retag som arbetar med att utveckla ett grundpatent\u201d, s\u00e4ger Lars. Han f\u00f6rklarar att han inte f\u00e5r avsl\u00f6ja f\u00f6retagets namn, men gissar p\u00e5 att det kommer att ta n\u00e5gra \u00e5r till innan de f\u00f6rsta produkterna kommer ut p\u00e5 marknaden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Att det ska g\u00e5 att s\u00e4lja \u00e4r dock inte det som Lars \u00e4r mest intresserad av. Hans huvudsakliga motivation \u00e4r \u201dforskning som drivs av nyfikenhet\u201d.
