Dofter formar m\u00e4nniskans beteende, och kan ha en dramatisk inverkan p\u00e5 hur vi upplever en byggd milj\u00f6. Genom att anv\u00e4nda dofter i byggda utrymmen kan arkitekter g\u00f6ra anv\u00e4ndarna n\u00f6jdare och till och med uppmuntra vissa typer av beteenden och k\u00e4nslom\u00e4ssiga upplevelser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Hur d\u00e5lig lukt har format den moderna staden<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>F\u00f6r arkitekten Christian Stayner inneb\u00e4r multisensorisk byggnadsdesign att man tar med alla de h\u00e4r aspekterna av hur v\u00e5ra sinnen formar v\u00e5r upplevelse av ett utrymme i ber\u00e4kningen. Han f\u00f6rklarar att hans intresse f\u00f6r dofter kom sig av att han \u201dvar intresserad av vilka andra tekniker och verktyg som vi arkitekter har till v\u00e5rt f\u00f6rfogande, f\u00f6rutom att bara visualisera ett utrymme\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sambandet mellan lukter och arkitektur kan sp\u00e5ras \u00e4nda tillbaka till stadsplaneringens tidigaste dagar. N\u00e4r st\u00e4derna expanderade hamnade fr\u00e5gor om luktreducering ofta i centrum f\u00f6r stadsplanerarnas arbete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dOm man ser tillbaka p\u00e5 urbanismens och lukternas historia under de senaste 100 \u00e5ren har det handlat om att genom stadsplanering f\u00f6rs\u00f6ka f\u00e5 bort otrevliga lukter som kommer fr\u00e5n industrin, till exempel kolf\u00f6rbr\u00e4nning, \u00f6ppet avfall eller kloaker\u201d, s\u00e4ger Christian. \u201dI b\u00f6rjan av 1900-talet fanns det en luktkommitt\u00e9 i Brooklyn som gick runt i stadsdelen och sniffade efter d\u00e5lig lukt och rapporterade den till myndigheterna. Man har anv\u00e4nt omfattande teknisk styrning f\u00f6r att hantera lukter i stadsmilj\u00f6er.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>M\u00e5nga av de h\u00e4r luktreduceringsteknikerna anv\u00e4nds ocks\u00e5 f\u00f6r enskilda byggnader, s\u00e4ger Christian. Byggnader som restauranger \u2013 d\u00e4r en kakofoni av dofter, s\u00e5v\u00e4l matlukt fr\u00e5n k\u00f6ket som otrevlig lukt fr\u00e5n toaletterna, t\u00e4vlar om g\u00e4sternas uppm\u00e4rksamhet \u2013 anv\u00e4nds komplexa tekniker f\u00f6r luktutrotning i syfte att <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airscent.com\/a-complete-guide-to-neutralizing-odors-in-commercial-environments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">skapa en neutral upplevelse<\/a>. \u201dByggnadsdesigners kan jobba med luktpartiklarna, p\u00e5 molekyl\u00e4ra niv\u00e5, f\u00f6r att begr\u00e4nsa o\u00f6nskade lukter\u201d, s\u00e4ger Christian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Anv\u00e4nda dofter f\u00f6r att skapa platsk\u00e4nsla<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>F\u00f6r vissa byggnader r\u00e4cker det dock inte att skapa en neutral doftpalett. Enligt Christian Stayner konstrueras m\u00e5nga kommersiella byggnader faktiskt f\u00f6r att fr\u00e4mja cirkulationen av specifika dofter som uppmuntrar ett \u00f6nskv\u00e4rt anv\u00e4ndarbeteende.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dDet finns faktiskt m\u00e5nga stora varum\u00e4rken som manipulerar oss med dofter p\u00e5 ett ganska sofistikerat s\u00e4tt\u201d, s\u00e4ger Christian. \u201dHotellkedjan Westin \u00e4r en av de mest k\u00e4nda. Alla Westin-hotell i hela v\u00e4rlden doftar likadant \u2013 en doft som kedjan beskriver som \u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westinstore.com\/category.aspx?White-Tea-Home-Fragrance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">en blandning av vitt te, cedertr\u00e4 och vanilj<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dI samma \u00f6gonblick som man kliver in i lobbyn finns det \u2013 oavsett om man l\u00e4gger m\u00e4rke till det eller om det bara blandas med de olika lukterna fr\u00e5n flygplatsen eller det centrala aff\u00e4rsdistriktet utanf\u00f6r hotellet \u2013 en varum\u00e4rkeskonsekvens som fungerar som ett subtilt s\u00e4tt att skapa en upplevelse som kanske f\u00e5r m\u00e4nniskor att k\u00e4nna sig v\u00e4lkomna tillbaka eller bekv\u00e4ma p\u00e5 en plats d\u00e4r de har varit f\u00f6rut, \u00e4ven om det \u00e4r i en annan stad eller ett annat land\u201d, s\u00e4ger Christian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Den h\u00e4r typen av doftupplevelse \u00e4r vanlig bland f\u00f6retagskedjor inom hotell- och restaurangn\u00e4ringen \u2013 d\u00e4ribland Las Vegas mest ber\u00f6mda kasinon, som har anv\u00e4nt doftmanipulering f\u00f6r att f\u00e5 kunderna att bete sig p\u00e5 ett visst s\u00e4tt sedan <a href=\"https:\/\/ggbmagazine.com\/article\/whats-that-smell\/#:~:text=According%20to%20the%20article%2C%20by,It's%20called%20%E2%80%9CSeduction.%E2%80%9D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">b\u00f6rjan av 1990-talet<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dP\u00e5 ett kasino sl\u00e4pper man ut vissa dofter f\u00f6r att locka fram olika reaktioner fr\u00e5n m\u00e4nniskor\u201d, s\u00e4ger Christian. \u201dAntingen att h\u00e5lla sig stilla och forts\u00e4tta spela, eller att \u00e4ta, eller att f\u00f6rflytta sig fr\u00e5n ett visst utrymme till ett annat.\u201d Listigt manipulerade dofter i en konsumentmilj\u00f6 har stor inverkan p\u00e5 anv\u00e4ndarnas beteende.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Bygga in dofter i en byggnad<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Anv\u00e4ndningen av doftmarknadsf\u00f6ring i kommersiella milj\u00f6er \u00e4r v\u00e4l etablerad, men det \u00e4r mindre vanligt att man anv\u00e4nder dofter n\u00e4r man bygger bost\u00e4der. Men att avsiktligt skapa en viss doftmilj\u00f6 i hemmet kan enligt forskningen f\u00e5 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scientificamerican.com\/article\/do-scents-affect-peoples\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">positiva psykologiska effekter<\/a>, och \u00e4r ett koncept som Christian Stayner nyligen experimenterade med i ett renoveringsprojekt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dF\u00f6r ungef\u00e4r ett \u00e5r sedan slutf\u00f6rde vi v\u00e5r f\u00f6rsta renovering av en byggnad som stod p\u00e5 kulturminneslistan National Register of Historic Places\u201d, s\u00e4ger Christian. \u201dHistoriskt bevarande i sig fokuserar vanligtvis p\u00e5 en byggnads visuella komponenter, liksom hur autentiska material man anv\u00e4nder. Vi var mer intresserade av den totala sensoriska upplevelsen av byggnaden. N\u00e4r byggnader \u00e5ldras b\u00f6rjar de att uts\u00f6ndra dofter. Byggnader luktar, vare sig man vill det eller ej.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christian Stayner och hans team anv\u00e4nde dofter f\u00f6r att ge en k\u00e4nsla av anknytning till byggnadens historia, och framkallade n\u00e5gra av de dofter som kan ha funnits d\u00e4r n\u00e4r den var nybyggd. \u201dVi anv\u00e4nde n\u00e5gra kommersiellt tillg\u00e4ngliga dofter som kn\u00f6t an till husets f\u00f6rflutna\u201d, s\u00e4ger han.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christian menar att dofter kan skapa en viss k\u00e4nslom\u00e4ssig upplevelse i hemmilj\u00f6n. \u201dDoften kan forma upplevelsen av att befinna sig i ett utrymme, och blir en sorts designkomponent som man inte kan se men d\u00e4remot k\u00e4nna. Den kan ha v\u00e4ldigt stor betydelse f\u00f6r hur det k\u00e4nns att befinna sig i ett visst fysiskt utrymme\u201d, s\u00e4ger han.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dock tror Christian att vi befinner oss p\u00e5 ett mycket tidigt stadium n\u00e4r det g\u00e4ller att anv\u00e4nda dofter inom arkitekturen. \u201dDet h\u00e4r \u00e4r en teknik som kan begr\u00e4nsas av att vi inte uppfostrats till att kunna beskriva lukter med ett visst ordf\u00f6rr\u00e5d\u201d, s\u00e4ger han. \u201dV\u00e5ra n\u00e4sor \u00e4r mycket mer sofistikerade n\u00e4r det g\u00e4ller m\u00e4ngden information och graden av k\u00e4nslighet som de kan bearbeta, men vi har inte r\u00e4tt vokabul\u00e4r f\u00f6r att prata om det.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"background-color:#111;text-align:center\"
