{"id":80508,"date":"2021-12-14T23:59:52","date_gmt":"2021-12-14T22:59:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.bluebeam.com\/se\/?p=80508"},"modified":"2022-02-28T11:41:24","modified_gmt":"2022-02-28T10:41:24","slug":"mental-health-benefits-construction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.bluebeam.com\/se\/mental-health-benefits-construction\/","title":{"rendered":"6 s\u00e4tt att hantera psykisk h\u00e4lsa i byggbranschen"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Illustration av Lindsay Gruetzmacher<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">Efter mer \u00e4n ett \u00e5r av omv\u00e4lvningar under den p\u00e5g\u00e5ende covid-19-pandemin \u00f6kar den mentala oh\u00e4lsan. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cidrap.umn.edu\/news-perspective\/2020\/09\/depression-triples-us-adults-amid-covid-19-stressors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Depression har blivit tre g\u00e5nger s\u00e5 vanligt<\/a> bland vuxna i USA, och <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/coronavirus-covid-19\/issue-brief\/the-implications-of-covid-19-for-mental-health-and-substance-use\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">forskare<\/a> m\u00e4rker h\u00f6gre niv\u00e5er av s\u00f6mnst\u00f6rningar, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/07\/12\/well\/live\/alcohol-abuse-drinking-treatment.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">alkoholkonsumtion<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2021\/07\/14\/upshot\/drug-overdose-deaths.html?searchResultPosition=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">drogmissbruk<\/a> och f\u00f6rv\u00e4rrade kroniska h\u00e4lsoproblem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>P\u00e5 jobbet kan en medarbetares psykiska oh\u00e4lsa f\u00e5 stora effekter. Enligt den amerikanska folkh\u00e4lsomyndigheten <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/workplacehealthpromotion\/tools-resources\/workplace-health\/mental-health\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a> (CDC) kan det p\u00e5verka prestation, produktivitet och engagemang. En unders\u00f6kning visade att depression kan f\u00f6rs\u00e4mra en persons f\u00f6rm\u00e5ga att slutf\u00f6ra fysiska uppgifter p\u00e5 jobbet 20&nbsp;% av tiden, enligt CDC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Men det kan vara sv\u00e5rt att ta itu med psykisk oh\u00e4lsa, inte minst p\u00e5 grund av det stigma som \u00e4r kopplat till det. Det h\u00e4r hindret \u00e4r s\u00e4rskilt h\u00f6gt i byggbranschen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dBranschen lider fortfarande av en mansdominerad, viljestark, ryck-upp-dig-kultur\u201d, s\u00e4ger Steve Williams, vd f\u00f6r <a href=\"https:\/\/ectohr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ecto HR<\/a>, en konsultfirma som specialiserar sig p\u00e5 byggbranschen. \u201dMan \u00e4r i regel inte s\u00e4rskilt \u00f6ppen f\u00f6r att prata om eller bekr\u00e4fta de h\u00e4r utmaningarna.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Men bland sina kunder har Steve sett gott om bevis p\u00e5 att pandemin har tagit ut sin r\u00e4tt. Psykisk h\u00e4lsa \u00e4r en fr\u00e5ga som byggf\u00f6retagen m\u00e5ste ta itu med, s\u00e4ger han.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>H\u00e4r \u00e4r sex s\u00e4tt f\u00f6r byggf\u00f6retag att bli b\u00e4ttre p\u00e5 psykisk h\u00e4lsa och \u00f6ka sina medarbetares v\u00e4lbefinnande.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Inf\u00f6r ett hj\u00e4lpprogram och marknadsf\u00f6r det<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Om f\u00f6retaget inte har n\u00e5got hj\u00e4lpprogram f\u00f6r sina medarbetare \u2013 ett s\u00e5 kallat Employee Assistance Program eller EAP \u2013 kan det vara dags att investera i det, s\u00e4ger Steve. Dessa program hj\u00e4lper medarbetarna att hitta m\u00f6jligheter som hj\u00e4lper dem att ta itu med psykisk oh\u00e4lsa, missbruk, familjeproblem och ekonomiska bekymmer. Allt sker konfidentiellt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>F\u00f6r f\u00f6retagen \u00e4r de h\u00e4r programmen relativt billiga \u2013 n\u00e5gonstans mellan 75 cent och 2 dollar (6\u201317 kronor) per medarbetare och m\u00e5nad, enligt <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shrm.org\/hr-today\/news\/hr-magazine\/winter2019\/pages\/companies-seek-to-boost-low-usage-of-employee-assistance-programs.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Society for Human Resource Management<\/a> (SHRM). Ett hj\u00e4lpprogram kan oftast l\u00e4ggas till genom f\u00f6retagets sjukf\u00f6rs\u00e4kringsm\u00e4klare, s\u00e4ger Steve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Om ni redan har ett hj\u00e4lpprogram \u00e4r det dags att g\u00f6ra det mer synligt. Enligt Steve \u00e4r m\u00e5nga medarbetare inte ens medvetna om att arbetsgivaren har ett s\u00e5dant program, och de som k\u00e4nner till det anv\u00e4nder det inte. I genomsnitt \u00e4r utnyttjandegraden f\u00f6r programmen 4,5&nbsp;%, enligt <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eapassn.org\/Publications-Resources\/Journal-of-Employee-Assistance\/Read-a-back-issue\/Where-Do-We-Go-From-Here-Improving-Value-and-Pricing-in-EAP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">International Employee Assistance Professionals Association<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Samtidigt som man g\u00e5r ut och ber\u00e4ttar om programmet \u00e4r det viktigt att bek\u00e4mpa en vanlig missuppfattning om dessa program och betona att alla samtal och all behandling sker helt och h\u00e5llet konfidentiellt. \u201dHj\u00e4lpprogram kr\u00e4ver l\u00f6pande, kontinuerlig marknadsf\u00f6ring och f\u00f6rst\u00e4rkning av budskapet att programmet inte styrs av arbetsgivaren\u201d, s\u00e4ger Steve. \u201dAtt ett hj\u00e4lpprogram \u00e4r hundra procent konfidentiellt och frist\u00e5ende.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Coacha ledare<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Arbetsledare och chefer \u00e4r ofta de f\u00f6rsta som l\u00e4gger m\u00e4rke till att n\u00e5got \u00e4r fel bland medarbetarna. D\u00e4rf\u00f6r m\u00e5ste f\u00f6retagen utbilda ledare i hur man uppt\u00e4cker missbruk och psykisk oh\u00e4lsa och se till att medarbetarna hittar r\u00e4tt slags hj\u00e4lp, s\u00e4ger Steve. Sjukf\u00f6rs\u00e4kringsbolagen \u00e4r ocks\u00e5 bra p\u00e5 att ge arbetsgivare v\u00e4gledning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michael Bustin, m\u00e5ng\u00e5rig chef i byggbranschen, menar att man m\u00e5ste l\u00e4ra k\u00e4nna medarbetarna f\u00f6r att kunna se om de har det sv\u00e5rt. \u201dFr\u00e5n ett ledarskapsperspektiv m\u00e5ste man verkligen f\u00f6rst\u00e5 och k\u00e4nna sitt team, och man m\u00e5ste k\u00e4nna igen utmaningarna och problemen\u201d, s\u00e4ger Michael, som har jobbat i byggbranschen i 25 \u00e5r. Han \u00e4r f\u00f6r n\u00e4rvarande global tillv\u00e4xtchef f\u00f6r <a href=\"https:\/\/durasein.com\/us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Durasein<\/a> som tillverkar material och produkter f\u00f6r fasta ytor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Prata om det<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>B\u00f6rja bryta ner stigmat genom att prata om psykisk h\u00e4lsa, s\u00e4ger Steve. Publicera statistik om hur vanligt det \u00e4r med psykiska problem i f\u00f6retagets nyhetsbrev. Ta upp det p\u00e5 s\u00e4kerhetsm\u00f6tena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dBer\u00e4tta f\u00f6r folk att psykisk oh\u00e4lsa \u00e4r mycket vanligt i USA och i byggbranschen\u201d, s\u00e4ger Steve. \u201dOch att det \u00e4r viktigt att st\u00f6tta varandra och g\u00f6ra att det \u00e4r helt okej.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Satsa p\u00e5 mindfulness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mindfulness \u00e4r att vara n\u00e4rvarande i nuet och fokusera p\u00e5 uppgiften, inte p\u00e5 andra stressfaktorer. Mindfulness kan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedaily.com\/releases\/2021\/01\/210111143422.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttra v\u00e5r mentala h\u00e4lsa<\/a>, och <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC8125938\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unders\u00f6kning<\/a> efter <a href=\"https:\/\/par.nsf.gov\/servlets\/purl\/10144179\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unders\u00f6kning<\/a> visar \u00e4ven ett samband mellan mindfulness och s\u00e4kerhet p\u00e5 byggarbetsplatser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dI riktigt lyckade s\u00e4kerhetsprogram tar man ett steg tillbaka och l\u00e4r m\u00e4nniskor att ut\u00f6va mindfulness\u201d, s\u00e4ger Kimberly Kayler, vd f\u00f6r <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aoeteam.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AOE<\/a>, en konsultfirma som regelbundet arbetar med bygg- och ingenj\u00f6rsf\u00f6retag. \u201dP\u00e5 byggsidan finns det riktigt stora f\u00f6rdelar med att praktisera mindfulness.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Att f\u00f6ra in mindfulness i medarbetarnas liv kan vara s\u00e5 enkelt som att subventionera prenumerationer p\u00e5 mindfulness-appar som <a href=\"https:\/\/www.calm.com\/business\/teams\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Calm<\/a> eller <a href=\"https:\/\/www.headspace.com\/work\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Headspace<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mindfulness\u00f6vningar kan ocks\u00e5 inf\u00f6rlivas i s\u00e4kerhetsm\u00f6ten eller stretchingprogram p\u00e5 morgonen, s\u00e4ger Kimberly, som \u00e4r yogal\u00e4rare och \u00e4ven h\u00e5ller f\u00f6redrag om en rad olika \u00e4mnen \u2013 bland annat <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-MDHieNpJZU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mindfulness f\u00f6r f\u00f6retag<\/a> \u2013 f\u00f6r bygg- och ingenj\u00f6rsf\u00f6retag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>F\u00f6r medarbetare som kanske upplever mindfulness som flummigt kan man kalla det n\u00e5got annat. \u201dOm mindfulness inte fungerar, eller om folk har sv\u00e5rt f\u00f6r det, kan man ge det ett annat namn\u201d, s\u00e4ger Kimberly. \u201dKanske stressreducering, kanske prioritering i den nya, hybrida v\u00e4rlden.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Men Kimberly varnar ocks\u00e5 f\u00f6r att dra f\u00f6rhastade slutsatser om att h\u00e5rdf\u00f6ra byggnadsarbetare inte \u00e4r intresserade av mindfulness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dDet kan komma en starkt konservativ ingenj\u00f6r, som jag aldrig trodde skulle vara intresserad av mindfulness, fram till mig efter f\u00f6redraget och visa mig en mindfulnessbok som han l\u00e4ser\u201d, s\u00e4ger Kimberly. \u201dDet har varit en l\u00e4xa f\u00f6r mig att man faktiskt aldrig kan veta.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Kr\u00e4v att medarbetarna tar ledigt<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Att ta ledigt ibland kan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apadivisions.org\/division-28\/publications\/newsletters\/psychopharmacology\/2017\/07\/vacation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">vara bra f\u00f6r den psykiska h\u00e4lsan<\/a>, men Steve Williams ser allt f\u00f6r m\u00e5nga platschefer, f\u00f6rm\u00e4n och byggledare som aldrig tar semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dDe tenderar att vara sp\u00e4nda och stressade, och n\u00e4r de jobbar i ett projekt som kommer allt n\u00e4rmare slutf\u00f6randet k\u00e4nner de att de inte kan koppla av\u201d, s\u00e4ger han.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>N\u00e4r det g\u00e4ller betald ledighet kr\u00e4ver Steve sj\u00e4lv att alla p\u00e5 hans kontor ska ta en hel vecka ledigt minst en g\u00e5ng om \u00e5ret, och han rekommenderar sina kunder att g\u00f6ra detsamma. Om arbetarna inte vill ta semester kan du upplysa dem om att du kommer att ta in vikarier s\u00e5 att jobbet blir gjort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Led med empati<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Michael Bustin har sett effekterna av psykisk oh\u00e4lsa bland sina egna v\u00e4nner och familjemedlemmar. Det \u00e4r delvis d\u00e4rf\u00f6r som han leder med empatin i fokus \u2013 han \u00e4r omt\u00e4nksam n\u00e4r det g\u00e4ller medarbetarnas sv\u00e5righeter och f\u00f6rs\u00f6ker hitta det b\u00e4sta s\u00e4ttet att st\u00f6tta dem. Samtidigt \u00e4r det ju helt enkelt vad en bra ledare ska g\u00f6ra, s\u00e4ger han.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dM\u00e4nniskorna \u00e4r det sv\u00e5raste med ett f\u00f6retag\u201d, s\u00e4ger han. \u201dMan m\u00e5ste ha empati. Jag har sj\u00e4lv varit i deras sits f\u00f6rut. Jag vet att folk g\u00f6r misstag, och jag vet att de har problem. En framg\u00e5ngsrik ledare litar p\u00e5 sitt team, r\u00e4knar med sitt team och har f\u00f6rtroende f\u00f6r sitt team.
