Men t\u00e5glinjen \u00e4r inte bara en imponerande teknisk prestation \u2013 den markerar ocks\u00e5 ett viktigt \u00f6gonblick f\u00f6r engelska designers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Samtliga stationer designades av f\u00f6retag med kontor i <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.bluebeam.com\/uk\/history-and-innovation-the-changing-skyline-of-londons-square-mile\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">London<\/a>. De fick i uppdrag att antingen bygga om befintliga historiska utrymmen eller t\u00e4nka ut nya, sp\u00e4nnande designer f\u00f6r staden. Stationerna p\u00e5 Elizabeth Line, som speglar s\u00e5v\u00e4l avancerad ingenj\u00f6rskonst som design i v\u00e4rldsklass, har hyllats av journalister, stilbildare och de \u00f6ver en miljon Londonbor som har \u00e5kt p\u00e5 linjen sedan den officiellt \u00f6ppnade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Built har pratat med <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westonwilliamson.com\/people\/rob-naybour\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rob Naybour<\/a>, VD f\u00f6r arkitektfirman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westonwilliamson.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Weston Williamson + Partners<\/a>, om hans upplevelse av att skapa tv\u00e5 av Elizabeth Lines mest karakteristiska stationer, och om utmaningarna och sp\u00e4nningsmomenten i det flera decennier l\u00e5nga projektet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tv\u00e5 decennier av samarbete<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Rob Naybour ber\u00e4ttar att Weston Williamson + Partners p\u00e5b\u00f6rjade sitt arbete med Elizabeth Line 2006, d\u00e5 designprocessen inleddes. \u201dVi b\u00f6rjade bygga 2009 och har h\u00e5llit p\u00e5 \u00e4nda sedan dess\u201d, s\u00e4ger han.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Robs engagemang i att utveckla en mer holistisk strategi f\u00f6r att hantera de designm\u00e4ssiga och tekniska utmaningar som projektet innebar f\u00f6r hans team b\u00f6rjade redan tidigt i designprocessen. \u201dVi sa till dem som jobbade med Paddington-stationen: \u2019Ni m\u00e5ste ha en \u00f6vergripande plan, och ni m\u00e5ste f\u00e5 allt det h\u00e4r att fungera\u2019\u201d, s\u00e4ger Rob. Hans team hade ett n\u00e4ra samarbete med Crossrail om att utveckla en omfattande organisationsplan som kunde delas med alla designers, entrepren\u00f6rer och kunder som var inblandade i byggprocessen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-accent-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-accent-background-color has-background\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">OCKS\u00c5 P\u00c5 BUILT:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-audio wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Cottee Parker Goes Paperless on Queen\u2019s Wharf\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Q0BngFhf5Lw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-accent-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-accent-background-color has-background\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dVi ville helt enkelt vara involverade i varje steg\u201d, s\u00e4ger han. \u201dDet roliga \u00e4r att jag och arkitekten p\u00e5 Crossrail faktiskt var de enda tv\u00e5 personer som f\u00f6ljde med hela v\u00e4gen fr\u00e5n b\u00f6rjan till slut. Under den f\u00f6rsta fasen av <a href=\"https:\/\/www.networkrail.co.uk\/communities\/passengers\/our-stations\/london-paddington\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Paddington-stationen<\/a> tror jag att vi hade n\u00e5got i stil med 26 fasade \u00f6verl\u00e4mningar, med olika stationsarrangemang. Och en av de st\u00f6rre \u00f6verl\u00e4mningarna handlade om att ge st\u00f6d till <a href=\"https:\/\/olympics.com\/en\/olympic-games\/london-2012\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OS i London<\/a>, som inf\u00f6ll mitt i v\u00e5rt byggprojekt och var den mest trafikerade perioden i Londons historia i fr\u00e5ga om att f\u00f6rflytta passagerare i tunnelbanan.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rob och hans medarbetare ins\u00e5g att det skulle kr\u00e4vas samarbete p\u00e5 en aldrig tidigare sk\u00e5dad niv\u00e5 f\u00f6r att lyckas med projektet. D\u00e4rf\u00f6r valde man att skapa ett delat kontorsutrymme f\u00f6r att underl\u00e4tta kommunikationen. \u201dVi delade lokaler d\u00e4r alla stationsdesigners f\u00f6r hela linjen jobbade p\u00e5 samma kontor\u201d, s\u00e4ger Rob. \u201dJag tror att det bidrog till att \u00e5stadkomma n\u00e5got som faktiskt var ett riktigt snabbt projekt, med tanke p\u00e5 hur upphandlingar g\u00e5r till i det h\u00e4r landet. Jag tror inte att vi hade kunnat uppn\u00e5 det utan att ha ett stort, delat kontor d\u00e4r alla stationsdesigners kunde samlas. Alla olika arkitekter och alla olika ingenj\u00f6rer jobbade i sina egna team, men de delade kunskaper och id\u00e9er. Det var en ganska intressant process.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>En blandning av elegans och tillg\u00e4nglighet<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>F\u00f6r Rob och hans team var det invecklade arbetet med att designa och bygga alltid inriktat p\u00e5 ett specifikt m\u00e5l: att det skulle vara enkelt att ta sig fram och en bra upplevelse. \u201dTill syvende och sist handlar det man f\u00f6rs\u00f6ker uppn\u00e5 om att f\u00e5 en komplicerad station att verka enkel f\u00f6r passagerarna\u201d, s\u00e4ger Rob. \u201dS\u00e5 man letar alltid efter en elegant l\u00f6sning, vilket betyder att det finns ett intuitivt fl\u00f6de. Man beh\u00f6ver inte s\u00e5 m\u00e5nga skyltar eftersom det \u00e4r uppenbart vart man ska g\u00e5. Man beh\u00f6ver en stor designvision som h\u00e5ller ihop hela paketet.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rob tror att den h\u00e4r typen av designvision \u00e4r avg\u00f6rande f\u00f6r att skapa en lyckad station. \u201dUtrymmet kommer att anv\u00e4ndas av m\u00e5nga olika slags m\u00e4nniskor\u201d, s\u00e4ger han. \u201dS\u00e5 sent som ig\u00e5r gick jag runt med en organisation f\u00f6r funktionshindrade, och v\u00e5r slutsats var att om utrymmet k\u00e4nns bra arkitektoniskt s\u00e5 k\u00e4nner folk sig tryggare. Om man g\u00f6r r\u00e4tt med utrymmet och atmosf\u00e4ren \u2013 akustiken, luftigheten, r\u00e4tt material \u2013 s\u00e5 faller det andra p\u00e5 plats och byggnaden kan fungera f\u00f6r ett s\u00e5 brett spektrum av passagerare som m\u00f6jligt.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hur uppn\u00e5dde Rob Naybour och hans kollegor den h\u00e4r visionen?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dDen st\u00f6rsta f\u00f6r\u00e4ndringen p\u00e5 Paddington var att vi verkligen \u00f6ppnade stationen f\u00f6r naturligt ljus och frisk luft\u201d, s\u00e4ger han. \u201dLustigt nog var det enklare att g\u00f6ra s\u00e5 ur ett tekniskt och <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.bluebeam.com\/se\/london-architecture\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">funktionellt perspektiv<\/a> n\u00e4r det g\u00e4llde sj\u00e4lva konstruktionen, och det sparade mycket pengar. Men det ger ocks\u00e5 en otroligt intuitiv resa, f\u00f6r n\u00e4r man kommer upp fr\u00e5n perrongen kan man k\u00e4nna den friska luften, man kan k\u00e4nna doften av regn ganska ofta i London. Man promenerar mot ljuset och solen. S\u00e5 det \u00e4r en mycket mer p\u00e5taglig upplevelse.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ett mer holistiskt syns\u00e4tt<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>B\u00e5da de stationer p\u00e5 Elizabeth Line som teamet fr\u00e5n Weston Williamson + Partners arbetade med utgick fr\u00e5n historiska byggnader som skulle byggas om. D\u00e4rf\u00f6r kunde Robs team ta sig an projektet p\u00e5 ett unikt detaljerat s\u00e4tt samtidigt som man tacklade utmaningarna med de befintliga utrymmena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.crossrail.co.uk\/route\/stations\/woolwich-station\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Woolwich-stationen<\/a> ligger i den gamla vapenfabriken i Woolwich. D\u00e4r har man h\u00e5llit p\u00e5 med att bygga gev\u00e4r och bomber och andra vapen sedan 1600-talet\u201d, s\u00e4ger Rob. \u201dLokalerna byggs om till ett blandprojekt som omfattar ett museum, bost\u00e4der, konstutrymmen och nu ocks\u00e5 en station. Arbetet p\u00e5 Paddington omfattade f\u00f6rutom den nya stationen f\u00f6r Elizabeth Line ocks\u00e5 att bygga om en befintlig tunnelbanestation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>F\u00f6r att kunna arbeta med Paddington-projektet m\u00e5ste Robs team se till att trafiken kunde forts\u00e4tta fl\u00f6da genom den befintliga stationen. \u201dVi var tvungna att uppr\u00e4tth\u00e5lla fungerande perronger samtidigt som vi byggde ett d\u00e4ck \u00f6ver dem, och det h\u00e4r \u00e4r inga rymliga stationer\u201d, s\u00e4ger han. \u201dDet var viktigt att f\u00f6rst\u00e5 vilken typ av p\u00e5lkran vi kunde f\u00e5 plats med, vilket i sin tur avgjorde vilket strukturellt rutn\u00e4t vi kunde anv\u00e4nda, vilket p\u00e5verkade hur vi kunde leda trapporna ner till perrongen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c4ven om platsernas komplexitet medf\u00f6rde utmaningar k\u00e4ndes det naturligt f\u00f6r Rob att arbeta med de befintliga byggnaderna i ett mer omfattande och storskaligt byggnadsutrymme. \u201dF\u00f6r oss handlar det nog alltid om ett helhetsperspektiv\u201d, s\u00e4ger han. \u201dF\u00f6r det \u00e4r s\u00e5 passagerarna ser det. Upplevelsen av en byggnad, i synnerhet av en transitstation, slutar inte vid utg\u00e5ngen. Den ing\u00e5r i upplevelsen av sj\u00e4lva staden. Jag tror att ju mer man kan ta h\u00e4nsyn till s\u00e5dana aspekter, desto mer lyckat kommer projektet att bli.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rob tror att efter Elizabeth Line kommer den h\u00e4r helt\u00e4ckande strategin f\u00f6r att designa kollektivtrafik att vara avg\u00f6rande f\u00f6r att minska bilberoendet. \u201dKollektivtrafiken misslyckas ofta n\u00e4r det bara \u00e4r n\u00e5gon kilometern kvar\u201d, s\u00e4ger han. \u201dVi m\u00e5ste st\u00e4lla fr\u00e5gor som: \u2019Hur \u00e4r det att g\u00e5 fr\u00e5n stationen till slutm\u00e5let? \u00c4r det l\u00e4tt att f\u00e5 tag i en taxi om man inte kan g\u00e5? Finns det skugga? \u00c4r det tr\u00e5ngt? \u00c4r man skyddad fr\u00e5n trafik?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dAlla s\u00e5dana aspekter \u00e4r vad som g\u00f6r att det inte bara blir m\u00f6jligt utan till och med trevligt f\u00f6r m\u00e4nniskor att resa kollektivt i vardagen\u201d, forts\u00e4tter han. \u201dOch vi ser i allt h\u00f6gre utstr\u00e4ckning att st\u00e4derna verkligen funderar \u00f6ver den biten p\u00e5 ett holistiskt s\u00e4tt, vilket \u00e4r en utmaning \u2013 men det \u00e4r goda nyheter f\u00f6r designers och goda nyheter f\u00f6r passagerare.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div
