Tillverkningen av dessa material leder dock till betydande koldioxidutsl\u00e4pp. N\u00e4r det g\u00e4ller st\u00e5l orsakade den <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sustainable-ships.org\/stories\/2022\/carbon-footprint-steel#:~:text=Steel%20production%20is%20a%20significant,it%20is%20closer%20to%207.2%25.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">globala produktionen 2019<\/a> 3,4 miljarder ton koldioxidutsl\u00e4pp<sub><\/sub> \u2013 mellan 7&nbsp;% och 11&nbsp;% av den totala m\u00e4ngden globalt, medan betongproduktionen st\u00e5r f\u00f6r omkring 8&nbsp;%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c4ven om man kommer att forts\u00e4tta att anv\u00e4nda de h\u00e4r materialen, b\u00f6rjar man r\u00f6ra sig mot andra som \u00e4r mer h\u00e5llbara och mindre f\u00f6rorenande.
