Kolfiberkomponenter har blivit standard i m\u00e5nga olika typer av fordon \u2013 i synnerhet avancerade sportbilar och motorcyklar \u2013 tack vare materialets kombination av styrka och l\u00e5g vikt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ferrari-\u00e5terf\u00f6rs\u00e4ljaren <a href=\"https:\/\/www.continentalautosports.com\/ferrari-information\/carbon-fiber-cars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Continental Autosports<\/a> (CA) s\u00e4ger att kolfiber \u00e4r fem g\u00e5nger l\u00e4ttare \u00e4n st\u00e5l samtidigt som det har l\u00e4gre densitet \u00e4n aluminium som \u00e4r en av de l\u00e4ttaste metallerna som finns. \u201dI en t\u00e4vling mellan tv\u00e5 i \u00f6vrigt identiska bilar kommer en bil med kolfiberdelar troligtvis att prestera b\u00e4ttre \u00e4n en bil av traditionella material tack vare att dess l\u00e4gre vikt g\u00f6r att den kan f\u00e5 ut mer av drivlinan\u201d, enligt CA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c4ven om detta ger enorm potential f\u00f6r biltillverkare och -\u00e4gare s\u00e5 b\u00f6rjar andra branscher \u2013 inklusive byggbranschen \u2013 uppt\u00e4cka vad kolfiber och dess egenskaper har att erbjuda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Var kommer kolfiber fr\u00e5n?<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Men vad \u00e4r egentligen kolfiber f\u00f6r n\u00e5got och var kommer det fr\u00e5n? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enligt materialtillverkaren <a href=\"https:\/\/zoltek.com\/carbon-fiber\/what-is-carbon-fiber\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Zoltek<\/a> \u00e4r kolfiber en l\u00e5ng, tunn materialstr\u00e4ng med en diameter p\u00e5 ungef\u00e4r 0,005 till 0,010 mm som huvudsakligen best\u00e5r av kolatomer. Zoltek l\u00e4gger till att \u201dkolatomerna \u00e4r sammanbundna i mikroskopiska kristaller som ligger mer eller mindre parallellt med fiberns l\u00e4ngdaxel. Kristallernas samordnade riktning \u00e4r det som ger fibern sin otroliga styrka.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zoltek s\u00e4ger att n\u00e4stan all kolfiber (90 %) tillverkas av  polyakrylnitril, ett h\u00e5rt syntetiskt harts, och resten tillverkas av viskos eller petroleumbeck. Fibrerna \u201dbakas\u201d i en ugn, vilket tack vare den h\u00f6ga kolhalten g\u00f6r dem oerh\u00f6rt starka. Sedan bearbetas och lindas de till spolar och \u00e4r f\u00e4rdiga att anv\u00e4ndas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kolfiber har funnits i \u00f6ver 150 \u00e5r. Det uppfanns \u00e5r 1860 av den brittiske forskaren och fysikern Sir Joseph Wilson Swan som anv\u00e4nde materialet f\u00f6r att skapa en version av en gl\u00f6dlampa. Den amerikanske uppfinnaren och ingenj\u00f6ren Thomas Edison anv\u00e4nde senare materialet i sitt belysningssystem. N\u00e4r man ist\u00e4llet b\u00f6rjade anv\u00e4nda volfram i gl\u00f6dlamporna beh\u00f6vdes inte l\u00e4ngre kolfibern, och dess egenskaper var i stort sett bortgl\u00f6mda under flera \u00e5rtionden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senare, under 1950- till 1970-talen, ledde m\u00e5nga nya uppt\u00e4ckter till att kolfiberteknik b\u00f6rjade anv\u00e4ndas inom nya omr\u00e5den, i synnerhet av den amerikanska milit\u00e4ren, och materialet fick ett stort uppsving n\u00e4r det b\u00f6rjade anv\u00e4ndas i flygplansmotorer <a href=\"https:\/\/dragonplate.com\/a-brief-history-of-carbon-fiber\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">som utvecklades av Rolls-Royce<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Idag har kolfiber m\u00e5nga anv\u00e4ndningsomr\u00e5den, fr\u00e5n fordonssektorn som n\u00e4mndes ovan till flygplansinteri\u00f6rer, blad p\u00e5 vindkraftverk, s\u00e4kerhetskl\u00e4der och i byggbranschen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Anv\u00e4ndning av kolfiber i byggbranschen<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dragonplate.com\/practical-carbon-fiber-applications\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Egenskaperna<\/a> hos kolfiber \u2013 det vill s\u00e4ga dess dragh\u00e5llfasthet, styvhet, h\u00f6ga temperaturtolerans, kemiska resistens och slitagebest\u00e4ndighet \u2013 har av naturliga sk\u00e4l intresserat arkitekter, designers och utvecklare. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enligt <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engineeringcivil.com\/carbon-fibre-as-a-recent-material-use-in-construction.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Civil Engineering Portal<\/a> (CEP) kan det anv\u00e4ndas f\u00f6r att st\u00e4rka strukturer tillverkade i betong, st\u00e5l, timmer, murverk och gjutj\u00e4rn. Man utf\u00f6r \u00e4ven eftermonteringar f\u00f6r att h\u00f6ja b\u00e4rf\u00f6rm\u00e5gan f\u00f6r gamla strukturer som broar, och det anv\u00e4nds \u00e4ven f\u00f6r att st\u00e4rka skjuvh\u00e5llfastheten och b\u00f6jligheten f\u00f6r strukturer av f\u00f6rst\u00e4rkt betong.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CEP s\u00e4ger ocks\u00e5 att kolfiber anv\u00e4nds som ers\u00e4ttning f\u00f6r st\u00e5l, f\u00f6rsp\u00e4nningsmaterial och f\u00f6rst\u00e4rkning av gjutj\u00e4rnsbalkar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eftersom materialet inte korroderar kan betonglager med kolfiber vara mycket tunnare d\u00e5 det inte finns n\u00e5gon st\u00e5lk\u00e4rna som m\u00e5ste skyddas mot rost, s\u00e4ger <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teijincarbon.com\/markets\/civil-engineering\/#:~:text=Carbon%20fiber%20can%20be%20used,and%20reinforcing%20entirely%20new%20structures.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Teijin Carbon<\/a>, som har tillverkat syntet- och kolfibrer sedan 1930-talet.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dKolbetong g\u00f6r att man inte beh\u00f6ver lika mycket betong i byggnader, och det medf\u00f6r \u00e4ven andra f\u00f6rdelar som l\u00e4gre logistikkostnader och kortare bygg- och torktider \u2026 dess ledningsf\u00f6rm\u00e5ga g\u00f6r det till ett perfekt material f\u00f6r smarta byggnader d\u00e5 det kan leda v\u00e4rme och energi, \u00f6verf\u00f6ra information om en byggnads parametrar och skydda mot elektromagnetisk st\u00f6rning\u201d, s\u00e4ger f\u00f6retaget. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Utmaningar med att bygga med kolfiber<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Vi har tittat p\u00e5 de uppenbara f\u00f6rdelarna med kolfiber, n\u00e4mligen dess styrka, minimala korrosionsp\u00e5verkan och avsev\u00e4rt l\u00e4gre vikt, men materialet har ocks\u00e5 sina nackdelar.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kolfiber \u00e4r arbetsintensivt och relativt dyrt att tillverka d\u00e5 det g\u00e5r \u00e5t mycket energi. Det faktum att \u00e4mnet \u00e4r en bra ledare f\u00f6r v\u00e4rme och energi kan ocks\u00e5 vara ett problem i byggnader d\u00e4r ledningsf\u00f6rm\u00e5ga inte alltid \u00e4r \u00f6nskv\u00e4rt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Och \u00e4ven om kolfiber presterar bra i laboratoriemilj\u00f6er kan f\u00f6rh\u00e5llandena i verkligheten vara extrema, och experter s\u00e4ger att dessa b\u00f6r beaktas. Enligt <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horseen.com\/index\/solution\/content\/id\/1017\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Horse Construction<\/a> b\u00f6r \u201dden praktiska brottgr\u00e4nsen f\u00f6r kolfiber anses vara avsev\u00e4rt l\u00e4gre \u00e4n vad som indikeras av laboratoriedata\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sedan finns fr\u00e5gan om kolfiberns h\u00e5llbarhetsaspekter. Enligt <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uci.org\/article\/sustainability-circular-innovation-to-extend-the-lifespan-of-carbon-fibre\/2VVWOBO2dfxqQuabatEfaM#:~:text=Carbon%20fibre%20production%20is%20energy,been%20available%20for%20carbon%20fibre.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Union Cycliste International<\/a> \u00e4r kolfibermaterial \u201dsv\u00e5ra att \u00e5tervinna och inte biologiskt nedbrytbara. Kolfiber kan inte sm\u00e4ltas ner igen och \u00e5tervinnas, vilket \u00e4r fallet med aluminium, och fram tills alldeles nyligen har det inte funnits n\u00e5gra h\u00e5llbara l\u00f6sningar f\u00f6r uttj\u00e4nt kolfiber.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Composites Construction UK (CCUK), som tillhandah\u00e5ller en rad olika byggtj\u00e4nster, s\u00e4ger ocks\u00e5 att kolfiber, liksom alla material som kr\u00e4ver mycket energi i tillverkningsprocessen, potentiellt kan ha en negativ inverkan p\u00e5 milj\u00f6n. De s\u00e4ger dock ocks\u00e5 att <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fibrwrap-ccuk.com\/carbon-fibre-strengthening\/is-carbon-fibre-a-sustainable-material-for-strengthening-buildings-and-structures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">vissa typer av kolfiber \u00e4r gr\u00f6nare \u00e4n andra<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dEn typ av kolfiber som anses vara \u2019gr\u00f6n\u2019 \u00e4r ligninbaserad kolfiber \u2013 en naturresurs med 50\u201371 % kolinneh\u00e5ll \u2013 som kan anv\u00e4ndas i allm\u00e4nna till\u00e4mpningar med l\u00e5g v\u00e4rmeledningsf\u00f6rm\u00e5ga, h\u00f6g temperaturbest\u00e4ndighet och i projekt som kr\u00e4ver minimalt mekaniskt arbete.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201d\u00c4ven om kolfiber som produkt inte \u00e4r biologiskt nedbrytbar kan vissa delar av kolfibern \u2013 som harts fr\u00e5n kolfiberf\u00f6rst\u00e4rkt plast \u2013 \u00e5tervinnas relativt enkelt. Detta g\u00f6r man genom att anv\u00e4nda pyrolys, en \u00e5tervinningsprocess som anv\u00e4nder h\u00f6g v\u00e4rme f\u00f6r att br\u00e4nna bort hartset d\u00e4r den kolfiberf\u00f6rst\u00e4rkta plasten har anv\u00e4nts.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CCUK betonar vikten av att k\u00e4nna till att kolfiber kan skadas under vissa \u00e5tervinningsprocesser och att matrismaterialet av harts \u201dkanske inte klarar sig\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Framtiden f\u00f6r kolfiberteknik<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Hur ser d\u00e5 framtiden ut f\u00f6r kolfiber, och i synnerhet anv\u00e4ndningen av kolfiber inom byggande? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mordorintelligence.com\/industry-reports\/carbon-fiber-market#:~:text=The%20Global%20Carbon%20Fiber%20Market,etc.%2C%20decreased%20in%202020.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Prognoser<\/a> uppskattar att den genomsnittliga \u00e5rliga tillv\u00e4xttakten p\u00e5 den globala marknaden fr\u00e5n nu till 2028 kommer ligga n\u00e5gonstans mellan 10 och <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC9324376\/#:~:text=A%20carbon%20fibre%20compound%20annual,production%20by%20Boeing%20and%20Airbus.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">12,5 %<\/a>, och huvuddelen av efterfr\u00e5gan ber\u00e4knas komma fr\u00e5n flyg- och f\u00f6rsvarsindustrin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inom byggande kan kolfiber ha st\u00f6rst inverkan p\u00e5 betongblandningar.
