Enligt <a href=\"https:\/\/enginetechforum.org\/construction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Engine Technology Forum<\/a> bidrar diesel med 98&nbsp;% av all energi som anv\u00e4nds i byggbranschen. Detta omfattar mer \u00e4n tre fj\u00e4rdedelar av all tung byggutrustning, plus generatorer och kompressorer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Men anv\u00e4ndningen av diesel har ett pris. Till och med diesel som uppfyller den amerikanska milj\u00f6skyddsmyndighetens niv\u00e5 4-normer producerar giftiga avgaser och partiklar som \u00e4r skadliga f\u00f6r milj\u00f6n och oh\u00e4lsosamma f\u00f6r personalen, enligt <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/diesel-exhaust\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Occupational Health and Safety Administration<\/a> (myndigheten f\u00f6r s\u00e4kerhet och h\u00e4lsa p\u00e5 arbetsplatsen).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Det h\u00e4r beroendet av diesel rimmar illa med Storbritanniens l\u00f6fte att minska utsl\u00e4ppen av v\u00e4xthusgaser till nettonoll senast 2050. Eftersom byggsektorn st\u00e5r f\u00f6r 39&nbsp;% av de globala koldioxidutsl\u00e4ppen \u2013 fr\u00e4mst genom tillverkning av byggmaterial och f\u00f6rbr\u00e4nning av fossila br\u00e4nslen \u2013 har branschen l\u00e5ng v\u00e4g kvar att g\u00e5. D\u00e4rmed var det ett modigt beslut att helt ta bort diesel fr\u00e5n byggarbetsplatserna f\u00f6r den nya j\u00e4rnv\u00e4gslinjen High Speed 2 (HS2).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dKlimatf\u00f6r\u00e4ndringarna inneb\u00e4r utmaningar utan motstycke\u201d, s\u00e4ger Andrea Davidson, chef f\u00f6r milj\u00f6vetenskap i styrelsen f\u00f6r tekniska tj\u00e4nster p\u00e5 HS2 Limited. \u201dV\u00e5rt s\u00e4tt att resa \u2013 och att bygga v\u00e5ra transportn\u00e4t \u2013 \u00e4r avg\u00f6rande f\u00f6r hur vi ska kunna hantera den h\u00e4r globala n\u00f6dsituationen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Nollutsl\u00e4ppsm\u00e5l<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Genom HS2 skapas en f\u00f6rbindelse mellan Birmingham och London med koldioxidsn\u00e5la snabbt\u00e5g. Det kr\u00e4ver fyra nya toppmoderna stationer, tv\u00e5 dep\u00e5er och 225 kilometer sp\u00e5r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HS2 avs\u00e5g ursprungligen att uppn\u00e5 nettonollutsl\u00e4pp av v\u00e4xthusgaser i enlighet med Storbritanniens m\u00e5l. Men viktiga samarbetspartners, som Skanska, hade redan b\u00f6rjat arbeta mot dieselfria byggarbetsplatser. De hade utvecklat en aff\u00e4rsplan och b\u00f6rjat vidta \u00e5tg\u00e4rder f\u00f6r att f\u00f6rverkliga det h\u00e4r m\u00e5let. HS2:s beslut p\u00e5verkades ocks\u00e5 av best\u00e4mmelser i den brittiska finanslagen (U.K. Finance Act 2021) som s\u00e4kerst\u00e4ller att skatterna \u00e5terspeglar dieselutsl\u00e4ppens skadliga effekter p\u00e5 ett r\u00e4ttvist s\u00e4tt. Reglerna syftar till att ge anv\u00e4ndare av f\u00f6rorenande br\u00e4nslen incitament att f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttra energieffektiviteten, investera i renare alternativ och anv\u00e4nda mindre br\u00e4nsle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>I HS2:s plan f\u00f6r nettonollutsl\u00e4pp har organisationen \u00e5tagit sig att g\u00f6ra samtliga HS2-byggarbetsplatser dieselfria senast 2029 \u2013 de f\u00f6rsta under 2022. Dessutom siktar teamet p\u00e5 50&nbsp;% minskning av koldioxidutsl\u00e4ppen fr\u00e5n st\u00e5l och betong mellan 2021 och 2030, samt 11&nbsp;% minskning av tunga fordon mellan 2020 och 2027. Fr\u00e5n dag ett av HS2-j\u00e4rnv\u00e4gens drift planerar man att endast anv\u00e4nda koldioxidfri el. Till sist har HS2 som m\u00e5l att uppn\u00e5 nettonollutsl\u00e4pp inom Scope 1 och 2 senast 2025, och inom Scope 3 fr\u00e5n 2035, samt att kompensera f\u00f6r eventuella \u00e5terst\u00e5ende utsl\u00e4pp fr\u00e5n den tidpunkten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Att sl\u00e5 h\u00e5l p\u00e5 myterna \u00e4r det st\u00f6rsta hindret<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Att hitta alternativ till diesel \u00e4r inte helt enkelt. Det finns inget enskilt alternativ som \u00e4r l\u00e4mpligt f\u00f6r alla byggarbetsplatser \u2013 vilket som passar b\u00e4st beror p\u00e5 plats, aktiviteter och byggmetoder. Om ingen n\u00e4tanslutning finns tillg\u00e4nglig rekommenderar Andrea Davidson att man \u00f6verv\u00e4ger andra l\u00f6sningar, fr\u00e5n v\u00e4tgastorn och br\u00e4nslecellsteknik till drop-in-biobr\u00e4nslen och biogasol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Den som agerar f\u00f6rst drar ocks\u00e5 p\u00e5 sig st\u00f6rre kostnader. F\u00f6rs\u00f6k, tester och oberoende akademiska bevis \u00e4r avg\u00f6rande f\u00f6r att minska riskerna med l\u00f6sningarna och skapa f\u00f6rtroende f\u00f6r att dieselalternativ fungerar, \u00e4r tillf\u00f6rlitliga och tar itu med h\u00e4lso- och s\u00e4kerhetsproblem. F\u00f6rst d\u00e5 blir en dieselfri byggarbetsplats en reell m\u00f6jlighet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dTeamen p\u00e5 byggarbetsplatserna har varit helt avg\u00f6rande f\u00f6r att uppn\u00e5 det h\u00e4r m\u00e5let f\u00f6r HS2\u201d, s\u00e4ger Andrea. \u201dDeras initiativ har visat f\u00f6r andra entrepren\u00f6rer vad man kan \u00e5stadkomma, vilket driver p\u00e5 m\u00f6jligheterna och omst\u00e4llningen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Kombinera teknologier<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>En princip f\u00f6r att minska anv\u00e4ndningen av en viss energik\u00e4lla \u00e4r att minimera efterfr\u00e5gan p\u00e5 den. Ett viktigt f\u00f6rsta steg \u00e4r d\u00e4rf\u00f6r att s\u00e4kerst\u00e4lla br\u00e4nsleeffektiviteten p\u00e5 plats f\u00f6r att minska utsl\u00e4ppen och kostnaderna. \u00c5tg\u00e4rder f\u00f6r \u00f6kad effektivitet kan omfatta eftermontering av \u00e4ldre maskiner, utbildning av f\u00f6rare, regler kring tomg\u00e5ngsk\u00f6rning, l\u00f6sningar f\u00f6r batterilagring och sv\u00e4nghjulsteknik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Naturligtvis kan n\u00e4tanslutning g\u00f6ra det enklare att driva utrustning med en ren laddningsl\u00f6sning. Men tillg\u00e5ngen beror p\u00e5 marktillst\u00e5nd, efterfr\u00e5gan och tidsramar f\u00f6r anslutning. Genom att arbeta med leverant\u00f6rsn\u00e4tverk kunde H2S ta fram en plan f\u00f6r att effektivisera anslutningarna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I HS2:s plan f\u00f6r nettonollutsl\u00e4pp \u00e4r m\u00e5let extremt l\u00e5ga utsl\u00e4pp, eller inga utsl\u00e4pp alls, senast 2035.
