Hur fungerar de? Vilka \u00e4r f\u00f6rdelarna med dem? Och vilka utmaningar st\u00e5r de inf\u00f6r?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>En v\u00e4xande stadsbefolkning<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mer \u00e4n h\u00e4lften av v\u00e4rldens befolkning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/development\/desa\/en\/news\/population\/2018-revision-of-world-urbanization-prospects.html#:~:text=Today%2C%2055%25%20of%20the%20world's,increase%20to%2068%25%20by%202050.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bor idag<\/a> i st\u00e4der, en siffra som f\u00f6rv\u00e4ntas stiga till n\u00e4stan 70&nbsp;% till 2050. Enligt FN \u00f6kade v\u00e4rldens stadsbefolkning fr\u00e5n 751 miljoner 1950 till 4,2 miljarder 2018, det senaste \u00e5ret f\u00f6r vilket data finns tillg\u00e4ngliga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>St\u00e4derna kommer att v\u00e4xa sig allt st\u00f6rre, och behovet av att minska deras bidrag till klimatkrisen har blivit en angel\u00e4gen fr\u00e5ga f\u00f6r s\u00e5v\u00e4l forskargemenskapen som intressenter inom den byggda milj\u00f6n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Med stigande globala temperaturer och allt vanligare v\u00e4rmeb\u00f6ljor blir st\u00e4derna allt oftare fokuspunkter f\u00f6r v\u00e4rmeproduktion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I m\u00e5nga fall f\u00f6rvandlar v\u00e4rmeproduktionen vissa stadsdelar till n\u00e5got som kallas \u201dv\u00e4rme\u00f6ar\u201d \u2013 omr\u00e5den i en stad som p\u00e5 grund av befolkningsaktivitet och en koncentration av v\u00e4gar, byggnader och infrastruktur genererar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forestresearch.gov.uk\/news\/what-do-we-know-about-how-trees-can-cool-our-towns-and-cities\/#:~:text=Trees%20also%20provide%20cooling%20through,environment%20to%20the%20same%20extent.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">h\u00f6gre temperaturer \u00e4n den omgivande landsbygden<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enligt USA:s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/heatislands\/learn-about-heat-islands\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">milj\u00f6skyddsmyndighet<\/a> (EPA) kan v\u00e4rme\u00f6ar bildas under en rad olika f\u00f6rh\u00e5llanden, \u201dp\u00e5 dagen s\u00e5v\u00e4l som p\u00e5 natten, i sm\u00e5 och stora st\u00e4der, i f\u00f6rortsomr\u00e5den, i nordliga och sydliga klimat samt under alla \u00e5rstider\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>F\u00f6rdelarna med gr\u00f6na korridorer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>F\u00f6r att hantera den h\u00e4r oroande situationen unders\u00f6ker planerare, utvecklare, arkitekter och lokala samh\u00e4llen f\u00f6rdelarna med \u201dgr\u00f6na korridorer\u201d \u2013 v\u00e4gstr\u00e4ckor eller annan mark som l\u00f6per genom en stadsmilj\u00f6 och d\u00e4r man har planterat tr\u00e4d och andra v\u00e4xter f\u00f6r att ge skugga och f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttrad luftkvalitet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enligt milj\u00f6organisationen <a href=\"https:\/\/naturalwalkingcities.com\/why-trees-and-natural-infrastructure-are-a-vital-part-of-the-sustainability-of-cities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Natural Walking Cities<\/a> kan plantering av tr\u00e4d och annan v\u00e4xtlighet i stadsmilj\u00f6 f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttra luftkvaliteten inom en radie av 30 meter, eftersom gr\u00f6nskan absorberar och skapar barri\u00e4rer mot partiklar fr\u00e5n luftf\u00f6roreningar som genereras av olika m\u00e4nskliga aktiviteter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Den amerikanska milj\u00f6skyddsmyndigheten EPA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/heatislands\/using-trees-and-vegetation-reduce-heat-islands\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">p\u00e5pekar<\/a> att tr\u00e4d och v\u00e4xtlighet, f\u00f6rutom att f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttra luftkvaliteten, kan kyla ner den omgivande luften genom avdunstning och transpiration. Det senare \u00e4r en process d\u00e4r v\u00e4xter absorberar vatten genom sina r\u00f6tter och sedan kyler sin omgivning genom att sl\u00e4ppa ut vatten\u00e5nga i luften genom sina blad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dTr\u00e4d och vegetation ger ocks\u00e5 svalka genom avdunstning av nederb\u00f6rd som samlas p\u00e5 blad och jord. Forskning visar att urbana skogar har temperaturer som i genomsnitt \u00e4r 16&nbsp;\u00b0C l\u00e4gre \u00e4n i stadsomr\u00e5den utan skog\u201d, till\u00e4gger EPA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Erfarenhet fr\u00e5n Medell\u00edn<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>St\u00e4der runt om i v\u00e4rlden har under flera \u00e5r inf\u00f6rt gr\u00f6na korridorer f\u00f6r att motverka de stigande stadstemperaturerna. 2016 startade Medellin, Colombias n\u00e4st st\u00f6rsta stad, ett program f\u00f6r att leverera 30 s\u00e5dana korridorer \u2013 som kallas \u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.c40knowledgehub.org\/s\/article\/Cities100-Medellin-s-interconnected-green-corridors?language=sv_SE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">corredores verdes<\/a>\u201d \u2013 och har hittills planterat n\u00e4stan 1 miljon tr\u00e4d och mer \u00e4n 2,5 miljoner v\u00e4xter. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kapitalkostnaden f\u00f6r projektet uppgick till 16,3 miljoner dollar (172 miljoner kronor). Ytterligare 625 000 dollar (6,6 miljoner kronor) l\u00e4ggs varje \u00e5r p\u00e5 underh\u00e5ll f\u00f6r att h\u00e5lla tr\u00e4den och v\u00e4xterna i gott skick. Det l\u00e5ter som mycket, men det blir cirka 6,50 dollar (knappt 70 kronor) per inv\u00e5nare i staden. F\u00f6rdelen har varit en betydande minskning av stadens genomsnittliga lufttemperatur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Singapore har ocks\u00e5 utvecklat ett n\u00e4tverk av naturkorridorer, genom n\u00e5got som landets regering beskriver som v\u00e4gar planterade med tr\u00e4d och buskar som replikerar den naturliga strukturen i en skog. Det h\u00e4r gynnar inte bara m\u00e4nniskor genom skuggning och kylning, utan skapar ocks\u00e5 tillflyktsorter och livsmilj\u00f6er f\u00f6r f\u00e5glar och insekter, vilket skyddar den biologiska m\u00e5ngfalden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Andra st\u00e4der har provat liknande metoder. Manhattan har sin \u201dHighline\u201d, en tidigare upph\u00f6jd j\u00e4rnv\u00e4gslinje som har omvandlats till en 2,4 km l\u00e5ng, linj\u00e4r naturpark full av tr\u00e4d och v\u00e4xter, medan ett antal organisationer i centrala London har g\u00e5tt samman f\u00f6r att skapa vad de kallar Wild West End (WWE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WWE str\u00e4var efter att genomf\u00f6ra program som ger m\u00e4nniskor st\u00f6rre tillg\u00e5ng till naturen och uppmuntrar djurlivet i staden. Bland medlemmarna finns f\u00f6retag, sociala organisationer och lokala myndigheter, som \u201dkommer att identifiera luckor i centrala Londons gr\u00f6na korridor och rikta in sig p\u00e5 projekt som kommer att st\u00f6dja f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttrad anslutning till gr\u00f6nomr\u00e5den och m\u00f6jligheter att ge Londonborna tillg\u00e5ng till naturen\u201d, s\u00e4ger WWE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bem\u00f6ta utmaningarna<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Med tanke p\u00e5 st\u00e4ders ekonomiska v\u00e4rde \u00e4r det enligt World Economic Forum (WEF) f\u00f6rnuftigt att framtidss\u00e4kra deras v\u00e4lst\u00e5nd med hj\u00e4lp av gr\u00f6na metoder. I en rapport fr\u00e5n WEF, <a href=\"https:\/\/www3.weforum.org\/docs\/WEF_BiodiverCities_by_2030_2022.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BioDiverCities By 2030<\/a>, skriver man att \u201dgenom att m\u00e4ta och lyfta fram naturens v\u00e4rde kan stadsplaneringen \u00e5terspegla det verkliga v\u00e4rdet av naturbaserade stadsl\u00f6sningar\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vidare skriver man i rapporten att naturbaserade l\u00f6sningar f\u00f6r urban infrastruktur \u201dkan ge 28&nbsp;% h\u00f6gre v\u00e4rde \u00e4n gr\u00e5 infrastrukturalternativ n\u00e4r det g\u00e4ller positiva externa milj\u00f6effekter och mer motst\u00e5ndskraftiga jobb, samtidigt som de kostar 50&nbsp;% mindre, med dagens m\u00e5tt p\u00e5 ekonomisk kostnad\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Det finns dock fortfarande utmaningar n\u00e4r man \u00f6verv\u00e4ger att inf\u00f6ra en strategi f\u00f6r gr\u00f6na korridorer. Det handlar bland annat om att mobilisera den politiska vilja som kr\u00e4vs f\u00f6r att genomf\u00f6ra projekten, att finansiera dem och att f\u00e5 samh\u00e4llets st\u00f6d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enligt <a href=\"https:\/\/bgreen-handbook.eu\/challenges-for-green-infrastructure-planning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">B.Green<\/a>, ett milj\u00f6initiativ som samordnas av Helsingfors i Finland och Tallinn i Estland tillsammans med Stockholm Environment Institute Tallinn Center, kr\u00e4ver \u201dinnovativa &#8230; gr\u00f6na infrastrukturl\u00f6sningar en avvikelse fr\u00e5n traditionella arbetss\u00e4tt\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Samarbete \u00e4r viktigt. Enighet mellan olika styrningsniv\u00e5er \u00e4r avg\u00f6rande f\u00f6r ett framg\u00e5ngsrikt genomf\u00f6rande av gr\u00f6n infrastruktur, s\u00e4ger B.Green. \u201dDet finns d\u00e4rf\u00f6r ett behov av att \u00e4ndra arbetsmetoder, processer och budgetfl\u00f6den f\u00f6r att \u00e5terspegla ett iterativt samarbete.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finansieringen \u00e4r n\u00e4stan alltid ett problem. Det tar flera \u00e5r att utveckla projekt f\u00f6r gr\u00f6n infrastruktur, och \u00e4nnu l\u00e4ngre tid innan f\u00f6rdelarna realiseras. \u201dDet inneb\u00e4r att finansieringen av gr\u00f6n infrastruktur m\u00e5ste beaktas under olika faser av planeringen, fr\u00e5n f\u00f6rstudie till genomf\u00f6rande\u201d, s\u00e4ger B.Green, medan finansi\u00e4rerna \u201docks\u00e5 b\u00f6r \u00f6verv\u00e4ga senare underh\u00e5ll och \u00f6vervakning av platsen, vilket kr\u00e4ver att finansiering frig\u00f6rs fr\u00e5n den privata sektorn.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>St\u00f6d fr\u00e5n samh\u00e4llet<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Det finns ocks\u00e5 fr\u00e5getecken kring allm\u00e4nhetens acceptans n\u00e4r det g\u00e4ller att lansera initiativ som gr\u00f6na korridorer. De b\u00e4sta planerna \u00e4r n\u00e4r samh\u00e4llets intressen \u201di grunden inf\u00f6rlivas i planeringsprocessen\u201d, s\u00e4ger B.Green, som dock till\u00e4gger att samh\u00e4llen \u201ds\u00e4llan \u00e4r involverade i en verklig samplanering av s\u00e5dana insatser\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Det h\u00e4r \u00e4r knappast en idealisk situation, inte minst eftersom samh\u00e4llena kan gynnas av projekten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Men allt oftare ses gr\u00f6na korridorer som viktiga komponenter i alla planer f\u00f6r att bromsa uppv\u00e4rmningen av v\u00e5ra st\u00e4der. Byggherrar, arkitekter, lokala myndigheter och best\u00e4llare av projekt kan alla, n\u00e4r det \u00e4r m\u00f6jligt, bidra till att skapa naturomr\u00e5den som integreras i stadsmilj\u00f6n och \u00e4r tilltalande f\u00f6r de m\u00e4nniskor som kommer att anv\u00e4nda dem varje dag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Om strategier som de som anv\u00e4nds i Medell\u00edn och p\u00e5 andra h\u00e5ll forts\u00e4tter att erk\u00e4nnas och replikeras, och om dessa g\u00e5r hand i hand med andra \u00e5tg\u00e4rder f\u00f6r att minska v\u00e5r p\u00e5verkan p\u00e5 den globala lufttemperaturen, kommer det inte bara att hj\u00e4lpa stadsborna att h\u00e5lla sig svala \u2013 det kan ocks\u00e5 gynna resten av planeten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"text-align:center\" class=\"wp-block-atomic-blocks-ab-cta
