De v\u00e4ljer cykeln f\u00f6r att h\u00e5lla sig i form, f\u00f6r att pendla till och fr\u00e5n jobbet eller helt enkelt f\u00f6r att ta sig runt i sitt n\u00e4romr\u00e5de.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/agenda\/2015\/02\/why-we-need-to-encourage-cycling-everywhere\/#:~:text=By%20some%20estimates%2C%20there%20are,of%20the%20population%20use%20bicycles.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">World Economic Forum<\/a> (WEF) uppskattar att cirka 2 miljarder m\u00e4nniskor i v\u00e4rlden cyklar. Det \u00e4r en siffra som f\u00f6rv\u00e4ntas stiga till 5 miljarder \u00e5r 2050, i takt med att vi \u00f6verg\u00e5r fr\u00e5n fossildrivna fordon till mer h\u00e5llbara transportmedel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>N\u00e4r vi b\u00f6rjar cykla mer kommer myndigheterna p\u00e5 nationell och lokal niv\u00e5 att beh\u00f6va utforma, planera och investera i infrastruktur f\u00f6r att tillgodose det \u00f6kade antalet cyklister. Det kommer att g\u00f6ra cykelresorna s\u00e4krare, och locka \u00e4nnu fler att ta sig fram p\u00e5 tv\u00e5 hjul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cykelfest i Europa<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>En nyligen publicerad <a href=\"https:\/\/www-institutparisregion-fr.translate.goog\/mobilite-et-transports\/deplacements\/enquete-regionale-sur-la-mobilite-des-franciliens\/?_x_tr_sl=fr&amp;_x_tr_tl=en&amp;_x_tr_hl=en-US&amp;_x_tr_pto=wapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rapport<\/a> har visat att fler m\u00e4nniskor cyklar \u00e4n k\u00f6r bil i centrala Paris \u2013 11\u00a0% j\u00e4mf\u00f6rt med 4\u00a0%. I Amsterdam \u2013 d\u00e4r <a href=\"https:\/\/thingstodoinamsterdam.com\/transport\/cycling-in-amsterdam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">de 835\u00a0000 inv\u00e5narna \u00e4ger<\/a> omkring 881\u00a0000 cyklar och 63\u00a0% av befolkningen cyklar varje dag \u2013 \u00e4r spridningen av tv\u00e5hjulingar s\u00e5 stor att det \u00e4r mer troligt att man som fotg\u00e4ngare blir varnad av ett pling fr\u00e5n en cykelklocka \u00e4n tutad p\u00e5 av en bilist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Liknande f\u00f6rh\u00e5llanden r\u00e5der p\u00e5 andra st\u00e4llen i Europa. Enligt <a href=\"https:\/\/road-safety.transport.ec.europa.eu\/eu-road-safety-policy\/priorities\/safe-road-use\/cyclists\/walking-and-cycling-transport-modes_en#:~:text=Cycling%20as%20a%20transport%20mode,-In%20most%20countries&amp;text=Some%20cyclists%20use%20it%20every,for%20the%20Netherlands%20%5B34%5D%20.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EU<\/a> \u00e4ger 70\u00a0% av alla vuxna i Norge en cykel, och det g\u00f6r ocks\u00e5 ungef\u00e4r samma andel av hush\u00e5llen i Schweiz. WEF menar att K\u00f6penhamn \u00e4r den mest cykelv\u00e4nliga staden i v\u00e4rlden, och till\u00e4gger att tillfr\u00e5gade inv\u00e5nare i den danska huvudstaden svarade att de v\u00e4ljer att cykla i st\u00e4llet f\u00f6r att \u00e5ka bil eller kollektivtrafik \u201deftersom det \u00e4r det snabbaste s\u00e4ttet att ta sig runt i staden\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>P\u00e5 andra sidan Engelska kanalen visade siffror fr\u00e5n <a href=\"https:\/\/tfl.gov.uk\/info-for\/media\/press-releases\/2023\/december\/new-tfl-data-shows-sustained-increases-in-walking-and-cycling-in-the-capital\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Transport for London<\/a> (TfL), den organisation som driver och f\u00f6rvaltar kollektivtrafikn\u00e4ten i den brittiska huvudstaden, att antalet dagliga cykelresor 2023 uppgick till ungef\u00e4r 1,26 miljoner resor, en \u00f6kning med 6,3\u00a0% fr\u00e5n 2022 och 20\u00a0% fr\u00e5n 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Covid-19 ledde till en \u00f6kning av antalet cyklister. N\u00e4r pandemin b\u00f6rjade avta var m\u00e5nga fortfarande oroliga f\u00f6r att smittas av viruset, och undvek tr\u00e5nga t\u00e5g och bussar genom att cykla ist\u00e4llet. Utvecklingen av elcyklar har ocks\u00e5 gett cyklingen ett uppsving. 2017 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mintel.com\/press-centre\/mintel-cost-of-living-puts-brakes-on-e-bike-growth-as-sales-slow-for-the-first-time-in-five-years\/#:~:text=Following%20five%20consecutive%20years%20of,estimated%20155%2C000%20bikes%20in%202022.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">s\u00e5ldes cirka 55\u00a0000 elcyklar i Storbritannien<\/a>. Denna siffra \u00f6verstiger nu 155\u00a0000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Samtidigt f\u00f6rv\u00e4ntas det globala v\u00e4rdet av all cykelf\u00f6rs\u00e4ljning \u00e5r 2029 uppg\u00e5 till hela <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/outlook\/mmo\/bicycles\/worldwide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">70 miljarder dollar<\/a> (cirka 736 miljarder kronor) \u2013 en \u00f6kning fr\u00e5n 63 miljarder dollar (663 miljarder kronor) i \u00e5r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Investera i infrastruktur f\u00f6r cykling<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Allt det h\u00e4r \u00e4r mycket uppmuntrande f\u00f6r de som vill sl\u00e5 ett slag f\u00f6r cykelns f\u00f6rdelar. Men det finns mycket kvar att g\u00f6ra f\u00f6r att f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttra milj\u00f6n p\u00e5 v\u00e4garna f\u00f6r cyklisterna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Myndigheterna har f\u00f6rs\u00f6kt att reagera p\u00e5 den v\u00e4xande trenden genom att investera i cykelinfrastruktur, i synnerhet anl\u00e4ggning av cykelbanor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Den brittiska regeringen s\u00e4ger sig ha <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/101-million-investment-to-boost-cycling-and-walking-nationwide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">investerat mer \u00e4n 100 miljoner pund<\/a> (cirka 1,36 miljarder kronor) i cykel- och g\u00e5ngv\u00e4gar och program f\u00f6r e-cykell\u00e5n. Enligt TfL har n\u00e4tverket av cykelv\u00e4gar i London, som \u00e4ven omfattar s\u00e5dana rutter som mestadels, men inte kontinuerligt \u00e4r \u00e5tskilda eller skyddade fr\u00e5n fordon, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/news\/transport\/cycle-lanes-london-quadrupled-2016-tfl-sadiq-khan-b1143447.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">vuxit fr\u00e5n 90 km 2016 till 359 km 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De belopp som investeras i Storbritannien \u00e4r dock betydligt l\u00e4gre \u00e4n de som spenderas i Europa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ecf.com\/news-and-events\/news\/eu-investments-cycling-using-eu-structural-funds-shift-higher-gear\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Cycling Federation<\/a> (ECF) noterar att cirka 3,21 miljarder euro (37 miljarder kronor) kommer att investeras i cykelprojekt i hela Europa som en del av EU:s strukturfonder 2021\u20132027. Det \u00e4r en \u00f6kning med 30\u00a0% j\u00e4mf\u00f6rt med den f\u00f6reg\u00e5ende budgetperioden 2014\u20132020. Det motsvarar byggandet av cirka 12\u00a0000\u00a0km cykelinfrastruktur.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ECF s\u00e4ger att i absoluta tal kommer Polen att vara det nuvarande finansieringsprogrammets fr\u00e4msta mottagare, med 780 miljoner euro (9 miljarder kronor) i finansiering, f\u00f6ljt av Tjeckien (409 miljoner euro eller 4,7 miljarder kronor), Italien (376 miljoner euro eller 4,3 miljarder kronor) och Ungern (300 miljoner euro eller 3,5 miljarder kronor). Dessa fyra l\u00e4nder st\u00e5r f\u00f6r 60\u00a0% av de totala planerade investeringarna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De st\u00f6rsta investerarna m\u00e4tt i euro per capita \u00e4r Litauen och Estland, som b\u00e5da investerade 46,6 euro (cirka 540 kronor), f\u00f6ljt av Tjeckien (38,8 euro eller 450 kronor), Slovenien (35,4 euro eller 410 kronor) och Ungern (30,9 euro eller 357 kronor).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Nytta mot kostnader f\u00f6r cykling<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Cykelwebbplatsen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclinguk.org\/article\/six-reasons-build-cycle-lanes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cyclinguk.org<\/a> f\u00f6r fram flera argument f\u00f6r att investera i cykelinfrastruktur. F\u00f6r det f\u00f6rsta lyfter man fram att f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttrade v\u00e4gar f\u00f6r cyklister gynnar f\u00f6retag, s\u00e4rskilt detaljhandlare p\u00e5 h\u00f6gtrafikerade gator och cykelv\u00e4gar. Cykelbanor minskar ocks\u00e5 trafiktr\u00e4ngseln, tack vare att fler kan ta sig fram p\u00e5 ett mindre utrymme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Webbplatsen till\u00e4gger att investeringen l\u00f6nar sig, och menar att det genomsnittliga f\u00f6rh\u00e5llandet mellan kostnad och nytta f\u00f6r fotg\u00e4ngar- och cykelprojekt, s\u00e5 v\u00e4l i Storbritannien som i andra l\u00e4nder, ligger p\u00e5 imponerande 13:1. Det inneb\u00e4r att f\u00f6r varje krona som spenderas p\u00e5 g\u00e5ng- och cykelinfrastruktur f\u00e5r ekonomin 13 kronor tillbaka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cycling.org g\u00f6r en liknelse med den k\u00e4nda frasen fr\u00e5n filmen Dr\u00f6mmarnas f\u00e4lt \u201cOm du bygger den kommer han\u201d. De skriver: bygger man en dedikerad cykelbana s\u00e5 kommer folk att anv\u00e4nda den. Detta framg\u00e5r av \u00f6kningen av cykelresor i Sevilla i Spanien \u2013 ett land som knappast \u00e4r k\u00e4nt f\u00f6r sin utbredda stadscykling \u2013 efter att lite pengar pumpades in i att skapa nya cykelbanor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Det \u00e4r inte bara myndigheterna som ser f\u00f6rdelar med att ta h\u00e4nsyn till cyklisternas behov. Allt fler arbetsplatser g\u00f6r nu en stor sak av att erbjuda <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bike2workscheme.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">s\u00e4ker cykelf\u00f6rvaring och duschm\u00f6jligheter<\/a> f\u00f6r anst\u00e4llda f\u00f6r att locka till sig personal, medan m\u00e5nga f\u00f6retag hj\u00e4lper personalen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bike2workscheme.co.uk\/\">att k\u00f6pa en cykel f\u00f6r att pendla<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Och i <a href=\"https:\/\/absolutelymagazines.com\/new-homes-becoming-cycle-friendly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nya bostadsomr\u00e5den<\/a> erbjuds ofta m\u00f6jligheter till cykelparkering f\u00f6r de boende, vilket uppmuntrar en h\u00e4lsosam livsstil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Utformning och planering av cykeln\u00e4tverk<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>F\u00f6r att bygga cykelbanor kr\u00e4vs f\u00f6rst noggrann design och planering, och regeringar ger ofta r\u00e5d till lokala myndigheter f\u00f6r att v\u00e4gleda dem genom processen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I den <a href=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/media\/5ffa1f96d3bf7f65d9e35825\/cycle-infrastructure-design-ltn-1-20.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">brittiska regeringens v\u00e4gledning<\/a> f\u00f6r planering och leverans av cykelbanor anges till exempel en rad saker \u201datt g\u00f6ra och inte g\u00f6ra\u201d som syftar till att f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttra resultaten f\u00f6r alla inblandade, bland annat genom att ta h\u00e4nsyn till en potentiell str\u00e4ckas rakhet, dess s\u00e4kerhet \u2013 faktisk och upplevd \u2013 och hur den \u00e4r sammankopplad med offentliga utrymmen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vissa bilf\u00f6rare kommer utan tvekan att protestera mot att deras v\u00e4gutrymme tas bort och tilldelas cyklisterna. Men i takt med att m\u00e4nniskor blir mer medvetna om problemen kommer cyklingen att bli mer accepterad. \u00d6kade investeringar i cykelbanor och mer avancerade metoder f\u00f6r att underl\u00e4tta cykling genom b\u00e4ttre utformning och planering av transportn\u00e4tet k\u00e4nns idag oundvikliga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Copenhagenize, en designkonsult som arbetar med lokala myndigheter som vill planera och utforma cykelinfrastruktur, har hj\u00e4lpt ett antal europeiska st\u00e4der, bland annat Lissabon i Portugal och Tours i Frankrike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>F\u00f6retaget framh\u00e5ller \u00e4ven vikten av att uppr\u00e4tta s\u00e4kra och anv\u00e4ndarv\u00e4nliga cykeln\u00e4tverk utanf\u00f6r st\u00e4derna. S\u00e5 h\u00e4r st\u00e5r det i f\u00f6retagets <a href=\"https:\/\/static1.squarespace.com\/static\/591075e02994cac296dedfcb\/t\/65830101a4d2d920b25a3b2f\/1703084311095\/2023_12_120_%5BCIZE%5D+A+year+in+review\">senaste rapport<\/a>: \u201dP\u00e5 landsbygden beh\u00f6ver m\u00e4nniskor ofta anv\u00e4nda cykeln f\u00f6r kortare resor och s\u00f6ml\u00f6st ansluta till andra transportmedel, i synnerhet t\u00e5g.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I ett s\u00e5dant sammanhang f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttrar cykeln inte bara den lokala r\u00f6rligheten utan blir ocks\u00e5 en viktig katalysator f\u00f6r en helt\u00e4ckande landsbygdsutveckling.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Att f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttra f\u00f6ruts\u00e4ttningarna f\u00f6r att cykla i storst\u00e4der och andra st\u00e4der \u00e4r ett p\u00e5g\u00e5ende arbete, men det g\u00e5r i r\u00e4tt riktning. Det m\u00e5ste det faktiskt, eftersom anden redan \u00e4r ute ur flaskan.
